Is it your goal to bring Kanye into every thread?LoathedVermin72 wrote:I know I'm probably alone in thinking this, but honestly I kind of wish they hadn't reunited. It has tarnished their legacy in my mind. It's not that NCTL is BAD, but it is sooooo much worse than their prior output that it has knocked them down a peg in my mind.
Really, the worst part isn't so much that the album is WORSE than prior albums, but that the album feels so boring and uninteresting. I mean, I'm not a huge fan of 808s & Heartbreak, but at least that album is interesting. Kanye is trying something new. It's a necessary step in his musical evolution. I don't find anything new or compelling about anything S-K is doing on NCTL. It just feels like a watered-down version of who they once were, only now they're compromised by ten years of outside influences that aren't nearly as interesting as what the old S-K was.
They seemed infallible prior to this. Even their performances I've seen (on late night shows) seem neutered and boring. This is not the S-K I know and love.

I just hope SK can put LV's disappointment in them behind them and find some reason to live and hope again.

Re: Sleater-Kinney | No Cities To Love
When critiquing modern bands, we have to remember that we are living in a post-Kanye world. They simply can't be expected to produce anything beyond mere triviality. As a non-Kanye group of artists, Sleater-Kinney deserves some credit simply for having the courage to wake up in the morning without blowing their heads off in despair. Their music has been ruined. These are brave women.

When I saw them live, I was surprised how great her voice was. She maintained a ton of power during the hiatus but has even more control over it than she ever did.

Corin sounds GREAT on the version of RITFW from 2013 (the unofficial start to the end of the hiatus of SK)VinylGuy wrote:Exactly..she has turned into a power force.digster wrote:When I saw them live, I was surprised how great her voice was.
