eaton took forever to dig back in before the pitch. ventura definitely overreacted, but the sequence was noticeably awkward.philpritchard wrote:So... Yordano Ventura fielded a ground ball and responded by running towards and yelling at the batter before throwing to first? That's... a bit weird.spike wrote:haha pretty good brawl just broke out between the sox and royals.
apparently, samardzija spends his off days chirping at the other team from the dugout, so he may've had the young pitcher on edge.

Well this Jays/Sox game is going pretty much exactly the way you would expect a Jays/Sox game to go at this point.

Well to be fair, it's hard get a game over with quickly when there are 30 hits and 13 walks.Simple Torture wrote:Seriously. So much for quicker 9-inning games.philpritchard wrote:Well this Jays/Sox game is going pretty much exactly the way you would expect a Jays/Sox game to go at this point.

I don't follow MLB really, but the Nationals / Braves game last night was pretty amazing.

Re: MLB
This is true. I remember when the Sox and Yankees used to have 4-hour games that ended with scored like 3-2 because every at-bat was a battle and a chess match--now we're getting the same length because Buchholz didn't get his fucking methadone in the morning.philpritchard wrote:Well to be fair, it's hard get a game over with quickly when there are 30 hits and 13 walks.Simple Torture wrote:Seriously. Re: MLB
I just randomly selected the 2010 season and looked at batter/pitcher pace. The Yankees and Red Sox combined for 7 of the 25 slowest hitters and 5 of the 7 slowest pitchers. It's not even just the back-and-forth battles that make the games so long, it's the "I'll throw the pitch/get in the batter's box when I'm damn well ready!" mentality.Simple Torture wrote:This is true. I've been saying the same thing about Buchholz for years, he is either hooked on scripts or is now on methodone.Simple Torture wrote:This is true.
