Do it. If nothing else, any movie shot by Benoit Debie is worth seeing for his cinematography alone. That man is a genius.durdencommatyler wrote:I want to see this so bad.LoathedVermin72 wrote:-Lost River (2015)![]()

Hendricks and Eva Mendes in the same movie? I will see it at some point just because.BurtReynolds wrote:It could be the worst movie ever, but if those jiggly bits are in it, I will enjoy it.durdencommatyler wrote:What do you mean, if? Yep. Dig that one too. I'd say I like them equally, though for different reasons. The Argonaut wrote:Have you seen Cat People (1942)?LoathedVermin72 wrote:Last 5:

Noah.
Strangely ugly and cheap looking movie for the director. I'll chalk it up to a failed experiment.
Has kind of an old fantasy movie thing going on at times, which is cool, but I hoped it would be weirder.
I need a 5 year break on epic battles. And what came after would have been unintentionally hilarious if it wasn't so boring.

Let's Be Cops. Dumb. But I laughed enough to call it better than a waste of time. Probably won't ever watch it again.

Just watched Jason Bateman's "Bad Words" and really enjoyed it. A lot like Bad Santa, but with Jason Bateman as the inappropriate adult, which was great.

Re: What movies are you watching?
The Cobbler...I was disappointed. I loved all of Tom McCarthy's earlier movies (The Station Agent, The Visitor, and Win Win)(and he was a writer on Up). This one was very different, was just sort of generally messy, and had a terrible ending that went against everything the movie had been about to that point. Method Man did a good job acting, though.

I got what he was going for in the first half, which I actually really liked. Then the movie goes WAY off the rails and by the end I had no fucking idea what was going through the mind of anyone involved. That ending...what the shit was that? The Argonaut wrote:I think he thought he was making some sort of a fairy tale?LoathedVermin72 wrote:yeah the cobbler...wtf was mccarthy thinking with that shit???

A Most Violent Year.
I had heard good things but I only liked it okay. It's talkier than I expected for a movie with "most violent" in the title. A slow start before it picks up and gets better in the second half but I doubt I would watch it again.

It really was a complete mess. Whatever morals and character motivations the movie had built up were thrown out the window for the final scenes.LoathedVermin72 wrote:I got what he was going for in the first half, which I actually really liked. Last 4:
-Thelma & Louise (1991)
(Heavy-handed, simplistic, nearly self-parodic crap.)
-The Price of Gold (2014)
-I Hate Christian Laettner (2015)
-The Incredible Shrinking Man (1957)

Also, I rewatched 300 for the first time since I saw it in theaters back in 2007. Man, I was so wrong about it; I did a total turnaround with my opinion. What a brilliant movie.

Begin Again. Fucking loved it. Knightly and Ruffalo have fantastic chemistry. Catherine Keener should be in everything. Made me fall in love with New York City again. Loved it loved it loved it!

Re: What movies are you watching?
Snyder has his flaws, but he shines in small, focused movies like 300 or Dawn of the Dead. He's all wrong for getting JLA going, but 300 was unapologetic militaristic machismo glory.LoathedVermin72 wrote:Also, I rewatched 300 for the first time since I saw it in theaters back in 2007.
