Re: New England Patriots
The NFL can't be trusted with private information, all Brady's shit would be on TMZ within hours. I can see why he wouldn't want to hand it over.

Re: New England Patriots
Knowing my luck, Brady will get suspended 10 games (including the bye), come back Week 12 and have a huge "fuck you" game in Denver.

I like this because it serves my pro Patriots agenda.

Two weeks ago I woulda laughed at the idea of a suspension for this. Now? What a mess.

Oh yeah, the NFL cannot be trusted. I'd never hand my cell phone over. Can you imagine the pics he has on it of his, uh, wife? Or the private text messages, pics of his kids, etc.numbers wrote:The NFL can't be trusted with private information, all Brady's shit would be on TMZ within hours. Except the league offered to let Brady's lawyer go thru it and have him pass on any and all pertinent information regarding this issue to the league, and he still declinednumbers wrote:The NFL can't be trusted with private information, all Brady's shit would be on TMZ within hours. Re: New England Patriots
Um, Wow. That escalated quickly. I was thinking 2 games and a fine for Brady, The Draft Pick thing is insanity a 1st and a 4th!!!
Obviously spygate played into it and the culture played into it, and his botching the crap out of Ray Rice played into it as well as not wanting to seem to close to Kraft.
BUT DAMN! 4 games, A million dollars and 2 draft picks including a 1st is gigantic. It just opens it up for more speculation too. I really don't quite understand what the league is trying to do
Is Walt Anderson fined for losing the balls and having crappy instruments now? A penalty this harsh should change a rule, well... get ready for the next 5 months of your life continuing to hash out utter nonsense.
The culture of non compliance I guess is the reasoning.

Are you fucking kidding me? This is the biggest make-up call of all time. Meanwhile, the #nobradynobanner hashtag is fun to read.

Yeah, I wasn't expecting as severe a penalty either.

Depends on the owners. His tenure is way to much about him if you ask me.Monkey_Driven wrote:So, how long before Goodell is gone?

Re: New England Patriots
Exactly. Goodell is nothing more than a representative for the owners. To people who go on about demanding for his head, I just reply it would result in "meet the new boss, same as the old boss".Electromatic wrote:Depends on the owners. "With respect to your particular involvement, the report established that there is substantial and credible evidence to conclude you were at least generally aware of the actions of the Patriots' employees involved in the deflation of the footballs and that it was unlikely that their actions were done without your knowledge," NFL executive vice president Troy Vincent wrote in a letter to Brady.

Time to go to Facebook to search for nuanced analysis of the situation from people who paid $80 for a shirt with this guy's name on the back.

Re: New England Patriots
I believe each team brings its own balls (and handled by their own staff - yeah, stupid) and they are switched out when possession changes.durdencommatyler wrote:I guess what bugs me about the whole thing is that... according to the actual report... the Colts were also playing with deflated balls. And for the entire game, not just maybe the first half.
So, while I do think that if Tom Brady knowingly participated in and/or was aware of inappropriate activity and rule breaking then he deserves to be punished, I still don't see what the big fucking deal is overall.

Re: New England Patriots
First, I expected much worse in the report.
Then, I expected much worse from all y'all leading up to and after the report came out (even my trolling produced nothing).
Lastly, this penalty makes absolutely no sense.
Starting with the inclusion of Spygate. If Suh can have his sheet wiped clean for his priors, why not the Patriots as a team? You know, the team which was completely exonerated in the fuckin' report?!! I could understand if Brady was suspended and the two employees banned from working an NFL sanctioned game ever again, but the fine and the picks?!! Then there's the total number of games being 4. For a guy with no priors? So air pressure in footballs is equal to steroids or illicit drugs. If thats the case, I expect a 4 game suspension for Andy Luck for his balls that were out of compliance. Lastly, the railroading, outcome directed, slandering that this report is makes me think this ends horribly for Rodger Goodell. I have a pretty low opinion of Bill Simmons, but the fact that Goodell is so insecure that he had to get ESPN to fire Simmons makes me think that the modicum of a writer/journalist that's somewhere in Simmons will join forces with this organization and tear down this puppet of the other owners that are clearly butt hurt year after year watching Kraft, Belichick, and Brady win games.
Regardless of the outcome of the inevitable appeal, I say the Pats hold off on any Super Bowl celebration until week 7 when the Jets come to town, Mike Kensil can have a front row seat.
