This should be fun!
I don't know how he could prove it, but I'm sure he's right.
How much burden of proof is required? Isn't this something decided by an arbitrator? A bunch of people successfully sued MLB for the same thing in the late 80s, and I think several of them won. I can't imagine there was more of a paper trail/hard proof of that than there would be of this.
Maybe, but Bonds was singled out here and he had much more extreme circumstanced than those affected by the 80s collusion. Though I personally believe there was collusion here, it's very plausible that all 30 teams independently came to the conclusion that barry bonds wasn't worth the hassle.
I'm 50-50 on this whether there's collusion or not. It's interesting, though.
He still would have been productive and had a high ops.
productive enough to justify the north of $20 mil/year he would've demanded?

I mean, the Red Sox win the world series in 2008 if they had signed Bonds mid season when they traded away Manny.

Didn't all the reports at the time say he was willing to play for the veterans minimum? I remember Tampa Bay being the only place where it ever seemed like he might end up.

I watched the entire Pirates batting practice. Not 1 ball disappeared into the ivy. That makes my story from PJ at Wrigley all that more impressive and unlikely.

CopperTom wrote: I got to Wrigley at about 5:00 on Friday and got in line to go in. Almost everyone in front of me went to the pit rather than merchandise. Nice. On my way to the home-plate merch tent, I noticed there was no security near the dugout. I sat down and got my pic taken sitting in the 3rd base dugout. I then secured 3 of the 4 posters (no Emok) and I didn’t have to wait in the extreme heat for hours. I then walked to the left-field foul pole beer area to get my girlfriend a beer. I noticed 99% of the ivy was barricaded off. I walked over to the 6 foot section that was open and was about to get my pic taken when I noticed something – A BALL IN THE IVY! I couldn’t believe it! I got a pic “catching” a ball in front of the ivy. I touched the ivy! That 1% was blocked off within 2 minutes. It pays to be early.

I hope a new speaker system is still on the to-do list.

They already added that. They've had to turn it down a lot because of neighbor complaints.

It wasn't them. It was the people who lived a mile further out, who never heard it before, that complained.

Ironically it's quieter for me. The sound from the new left field scoreboard points south away from me and it also acts as a barrier to the rest of the sound
