Wasn't cheap but I got these 4 in one shot from a guy on Discogs.
It came out to about $200 US

I'm still missing Monster and New Adventures. I figure some re-releases can't be too far off.

i still need reveal. hard to get myself to put $50 down for a record i'm not very fond of but need to finish a collection. some day.
i see new adventures every so often. if i come across another one i'll have it put aside and then ask if you want it.

He can keep Reveal though. Almost bought an original pressing of Fables a few months ago. But it was scratched all to fuck.

As much hate as it gets - I'd still be down with a vinyl copy of reveal. I got into the whole vinyl thing too late - have all the collectors edition CDs of their albums, but only a couple on vinyldurdencommatyler wrote:For shizzle.Rangi Guy wrote:I'd be quite keen to get hold of a copy of Up on vinylsouthp wrote:Wasn't cheap but I got these 4 in one shot from a guy on Discogs.

I really don't like the album. I'd take it for free, I suppose. But I'd probably just end up selling it or giving it away to someone who would appreciate it.Rangi Guy wrote:As much hate as it gets - I'd still be down with a vinyl copy of reveal. My REM records are among my favorite to listen to. Most sound glorious.

Re: The Vinyl Thread: Still Listen On Wax, Don't Use The CD
You guys are spending all this time dissing Reveal?? Meanwhile I just paid $50 for ATS, the biggest turd in their catalog, and no one said a thing.
Personally I love Up and Reveal and they both came out at a time when I wanted REM to go in that direction. Much like Accelerate and Collapse where the perfect finale for them.
I'm with Pete, my REM records are amongst my most played. I think it's because the individual albums have a general mood or tone that is consistent and the sequencing is perfect for a side a/b flip.

haha... I thought about that conversation we had as I was buying Ragged Glory. But you can't go wrong with an original pressing in pristine condition. I did replace my original Harvest and ATGR however - my copies had been "well loved" and those "original release series'" just sound sooo good.

I'm cautiously optimistic that we'll start to get ORS releases every 2 years instead of every 4-5. But who knows?

Re: The Vinyl Thread: Still Listen On Wax, Don't Use The CD
How much of the catalog do you already own? Because of the Pono launch I believe the plan was to remaster the first 14 albums, so that leaves these 6 that could come within the next year or two:Simple Torture wrote:I'm cautiously optimistic that we'll start to get ORS releases every 2 years instead of every 4-5. American Stars ‘N Bars [PONO] {176.4kHz} {24bit}
Comes A Time [PONO] {192/176.4kHz} {24bit}
Rust Never Sleeps [PONO] {192/176.4kHz} {24bit}
Live Rust [PONO] {192/176.4kHz} {24bit}
Hawks & Doves [PONO] {176.4kHz} {24bit}
re-ac-tor [PONO] {176.4kHz} {24bit}
I'd have to check the condition of my current copies, but from personal preference Comes a Time and RNS are the only two that I'd really need to own.

Re: The Vinyl Thread: Still Listen On Wax, Don't Use The CD
Well, I've got the 8 ORS records, all of the Performance Series records...and not much else! Live Rust, I think. Then the most recent stuff (Psychadelic Pill, Americana, A Letter Home). So I'm basically waiting for reissues of everything else.
