Team Canada is an absolute powerhouse this year. Semis and Finals are on Saturday/Sunday.
I've watched shockingly little this year. Same with the NHL playoffs. I've just thrown myself right into baseball.
Canada-Czech is at 9:15am
USA-Russia at 1:15pm

Nice. Very similar to me in that I got St Louis wrong in the 1st round. Luckily I had the Hawks moving through so I didn't have St Louis screwing me over for so many rounds.

How can anyone pick St Louis at all when they choke every year? It's like picking Peyton Manning to win a Super Bowl before the Patriots threw up on themselves and he got to play Rex Grossman in a Super Bowl

It's like picking the Red Sox to win a World Series... you know, before they won the World Series.

Eight years, $50 million to get Babcock to Toronto.

I really can't say enough good things about what Shanahan and his group are doing with this team right now. There's a really, really long way to go, but they continue to make really smart moves every step of the way.

That's the first I've heard about it.... wow that's a lot of money for a coach.
Until the players change, I don't see Babcock as the missing piece that's going to turn that ship around.

Hence the eight year contract; he'll be there for the rebuild years and he'll still be around when they're ready to compete. I don't think there's a single piece in the world that could turn this ship around right now. But I see a coach as a huge part of player development, and that's going to be one of the most important areas for Toronto the next few years. Babcock is just one piece, but he could be a big piece.

I like that, in a league with a salary cap, the Leafs are finding other ways to use their financial clout to improve the team.

wasn't toronto ranked among the 5 worst/lowest franchises in hockey among free-agent players when asked with which franchise they would play?
