Thing is, the Betterman/Save It For Later from The Who tribute was as good as it gets. He hasn't lost it. Inconsistent for some reason, yes.

For some reason, I thought he'd quit the smokes, though I have nothing to base that on.

His baritone has certainly deteriorated. Raspiness has taken over.

edit: I thought the performance was nice all things considered.
His guitar does sound awful. That tele especially. He really knows how to get the worst sound out of a P90.
He needs to bust out the shecter and hi watt setup again.
Although, i believe he is auctioning that guitar off. idiot

This setup was by far the best sounding Ed has ever had.Strat wrote:Jessica Fletcher wrote:It might not be the sole reason, but the smokes certainly aren't helping.

I thought that auction was just for a new Schecter with Ed's signature on it.

I gave it a 4. Eddie '15 is Eddie '15, but after years of hearing PJ do "Better Man" as a phoned-in rush job during their encores, I enjoyed hearing the song taken at a more careful tempo and performed with a little more tact. And as much as I hate to ever say anything bad about Stone, the CBS Orchestra brought the backing vocals that song always deserved.

That performance was fine and the hug at the end was fine.

Parting Ways and Insignificance popped up on shuffle mode in my car the other day and I was once again blown away by the sound from those tunes and the overall record.
I'm wondering if the sound of Ed's voice would benefit from PJ partnering again with Tchad Blake to use that same recording method. Ed's voice on those songs doesn't dominate as much and you can really hear each individual instrument. I really like songs where Ed's voice doesn't dominate (that's why I like it when he does duets) as I think less is more with him these days. But he still adds value....there's nothing like his voice - it's still incredible at least to my ears.

This may a stretch, but I rewatched the 1996 surprise Letterman video and Eddie does the odd backing into Letterman thing then too at the end.
