I believe jeff ament has recently stated that its now one of his favorite albums.
Jeff continues to solidify himself as my favorite band member.

Really? When did he say that?

I'm interested in what they have to say. My belief is that it was a half-successful experiment. I felt like they fell into this trap of booking the tour and got into a deadline crunch. I think if they spent a little more time that it could have been a total masterpiece, cause they were onto something creatively there. My problem with the album is execution - track selection, sequencing, mixing, etc. They had some really great idea here and some super cool quirky songs in Of the Girl, Insignificance, etc.

I hope they go into what went wrong with Tchad Blake. But I feel mike will give it an honest opinion. Jeff I am not so sure.

I didn't see the quote firsthand, but I think it was in the Lightning Bolt press somewhere.

There may be some truth to the notion that they had a truly amazing work and they blinked at the last second by bringing O'Brien back into the fold. Maybe, maybe not. Either way, they ended up with one of their two or three best records so I can't complain too much. It's such an amazing collection of songs.

Sitting on a plane, starting a 22 song binaural-era mix... Maybe it will take my mind off of how much I hate fucking airports.

Basically, they play a song...that Rob fuck will say something about it...then they play another song and Jeff makes a brief comment about it...then another song with Rob comments again...then another song with a brief Mike comment...then back to Rob. Basically they hand off every other song to Rob to make comments like "That was Evacuation, the beginning of a wonderful Cameron/Vedder songwriting partnership"...and on to the next song. If you're hoping for an in-depth look at the album, forget it.

I listened frm light years through grievance. It would have been better without the comments interrupting the album. Total waste of potential.

For example- they played a live version of grievance from Seattle, the dude said something like- Eddie wrote this song about the protests in his hometown, Seattle, and the Binaural tour was the launch of an unprecedented bootleg program, which still continues to this day!

I only heard quotes from Mike and Jeff, and they were each about 7 seconds long, then 30 seconds from the Rob or whoever. Lame

Right, The Rob. I was getting him confused with Tim.

I could do The Rob's job significantly better than he could.

Jeff and Mike only comment about songs they had a hand in writing. And even then they only speak for about 10 seconds. No discussion whatsoever. No comments about Breakerfall, Evacuation, etc...beyond The Rob's trivia.

Ugh, no questions about the album itself? The recording, the process, the change in producers, the original vision vs the final product? That's absurd.

Mike talks a little bit about their desire to try something different, and Tchad's recording technique, which he describes as "surround sound". Mr. Technical.

I thought Jeff's comment about wanting to write uptempo songs around this time was interesting, as it doesn't really jive with my perception of the record. He talks about sitting with a drum machine and messing around until he came up with something. This is right before they play God's Dice.

I haven't listened past this, sounds like that's about as good as it gets.

This wasn't very good.
