No they did SNL but the first true Letterman performance was Hail Hail for No Code. Although Ed did show up in the early days to sing a few lines off Black.BigRedLedbetter wrote:PJ was not on Letterman during the Ten/VS days?warehouse wrote:EV is usually in top notch form for tv performances, so i except nothing less. dmb played letterman last week and played the first song they ever played on letterman, 'what would you say'. i wouldnt be surprised if ed plays 'black' w/ paul schaffer's band backing him up since thats what he did on his first appearance on letterman.

Love this song. Love this performance too.ridleybradout wrote:Great thread Zeb![]()
How did we six pages in without this being posted?
Right around this time, this new thing called Napster had launched me from Pearl Jam fan to Pearl Jam fanatic. I was a freshman in college and super psyched about Binaural (I was also blown away that I has access to five or six of the Binaural songs before the album got released.) and this Letterman performance. I really had not watched Letterman up to this point.
About two years later, I'd be seeing the debut of "Save You" on Letterman for PJ's two-song sting on the show.
You can hear my asshole 20-year-old self yell right after Dave says, "Jaaaam"

This was actually quite a solid performance. Dave still sounds pretty good when he isn't punctuating every second line with "COME ON!!" or "OH YEAH!!".

Bob Dylan sure was acting stand-offish at the end of his last performance on David Letterman. what a douche.

I've been working my way back through this thread's youtube clips in order, y'know - just for shits and giggles - and I just have to say that this performance makes me so goddamn happy.
And this one...zeb said it all when he said it..bodysnatcher wrote:
