Sometimes Annie Clark feels kind of like the real-life analog to Winona Ryder's impersonation of Bjork on SNL "Celebrity Jeopardy." Her theater antics are over my head -- thankfully the songs stand alone.

She seems very cool.

This is reasonable. To an extent I think I have been unconsciously assuming that these quotes are just random, unprompted tidbits that Annie Clark has been leaving on Joey's voice mail or something.

I feel like I should see this person live, because I get so little from the studio stuff, and surely I'm missing something.

I absolutely love her studio output, but seeing her live is what made me a fan.

Yep. I was in the same boat. The studio stuff, initially, did very little for me. See her live. It's transformative.

After seeing her live the studio stuff really clicked for me and now I love love LOVE it all.

I haven't listened to her albums since I decided to reorganize my digital music collection. Today shall be the day I download all her albums again. It's time for a St. Vincent binge.

The end of 'Surgeon' with that strange solo is cool. It's like I'm suddenly listening to Prog/Kraut-Rock. Nice transition and contrast to 'Northern Lights' with the straight forward beginning.
