Here's a super unpopular musical opinion:

Alanis Morissette's run from Jagged Little Pill to Under Rug Swept is one of the best three album runs by any solo artist that I've ever heard.

I didn't know she had more than one album.

That's pretty ironic, Kai.

I've got one hand in my pocket and the other one is checking Alanis Morrisette's discography on Wikipedia...

I enjoy Californication and the one after it. Plus, I saw them live once and it was a good show.

However, Keidis is a hack.
Keidis was never what I liked about them. But BSSM, One Hot Minute, Californication and By The Way are all really good to great albums.
I have no use for the shirtless sex-funk side of their repertoire, but filter that out and I'm down with this statement for the most part. I know virtually nothing of their '80's catalog and lost track of them after "By the Way" (my personal favorite), but there are a lot of songs I like on those four albums. The backing vocal arrangements on "By the Way" knock me out.

By the Way is such an underrated album. I'm glad to see it getting some love here today.

They're ok. And yeah, By the Way is probably their best record.

Californication is my fav of theirs. BTW is good but doesn't hit the peaks. I wish I saw them live around that time before the long 'impromptu' funk jams they do nowadays.

It's good but I prefer the smoother edges of Californication. It's aged better for me.

Freaky Styley, bitches!!!

I often call the post-OHM band the Mild Yellow Banana Peppers...

They are now so sterile and boring!

I actually agree with you, LMS. I think I just wanted to give it some love. Californication was a coming of age cornerstone album for me and is still an all time favorite. BTW isn't far behind, but there is some distance there. BSSM has my full respect but it's a bit abrasive for old man Kaius these days.
