it's kinda been telegraphed all along imo
only that hes a secret targaryean, not necessarily the prince that was promised
i dunno, a bastard raised and protected by the honorable ned stark, sent away to the wall, quietly leads, always does the noble thing...
if you think this has a happy ending, you haven't been paying attention

There may not be a single prince that was promised. The dragon has three heads, after all.

But that shot of Jon after destroying the white walked with his longsword, and the other white walker looking down at him from the ridge, that shot made me think "that right there is the prince that was promised".

it could be the way the tv show goes; everyone likes one big hero.

One of the things I've missed the most this season that was in the books: fucking House Manderly. From the interplay at Winterfell to the deal with Davos, some of my favorite moments from these last two books had to do with them.

I think that after Stannis takes Winterfell, Sansa is going to tell him that the Stark boys are alive. Somehow, this'll get Davos to Skagos.

Yeah, but I want the Manderlys involved.

Chud, I think the Manderlys are going to be cut. I think you just have to accept that no one's getting eaten in a pie.

Boy, it's going to suck when he dies in 2 weeks.

Guys, reading this and the show thread late every Sunday night is my favorite time on the board. And, obviously, this thread is better because everybody is literate.

So has the "prince that was promised" ever been mentioned explicitly on the show? The best I can remember is Melisandre making references to Stannis being the only one who can stop the long night. Could you see Tyrion--a scholar who almost certainly would know about the legend of Azor Ahai--discussing the prophesy with Dany next week (implying that it could be her, but also some heavy-handed cutting for how it could be Jon too) and then in the space of two episodes, Dany flies away, Jon gets knifed, and Stannis' army is on the brink. Big cliffhanger to the end the season on the horizon.

Every Tuesday Grantland does a excellent piece on GoT. Well worth checking out. It provides a great supplement to this thread.

I imagine Brienne will substitute the spear wives arc and rescue Sansa/Jeyne Pool by the end of this season.

he's definitely going to stab him or something, and one of the cliffhangers will be if he survives.
