i suck at pure action movies, but i just found this decent
i don't know why they even called it mad max - his character felt like an afterthought...i know lv said he was wrong for the role...and he may be, but it seemed like he was given so little to work with it didn't matter

Re: Movie: Mad Max - Fury Road
Yeah, that was kind of my point. The role isn't much, so it requires an actor (like, you know, Mel Gibson) who can make it into something through sheer charisma and presence. I feel like directors don't know what to do with Hardy's raw talent. I haven't seen anything since The Take and Bronson that really pushed him into being amazing.lennytheweedwhacker wrote:i suck at pure action movies, but i just found this decent

i enjoyed his part in tinker tailor soldier spy and warrior - though they are both completely different roles than mad max

Re: Movie: Mad Max - Fury Road
To clarify - I love Tom Hardy and think he is one of the best actors alive. He is UH-MAY-ZING in the two things I mentioned. But that's just it - while he has certainly been good in other things since then (like TTSS, The Dark Knight Rises, The Drop), he hasn't been amazing. And he has the potential to be. His talent isn't being harnessed like it could and should be, which is probably a combination of both role choices and directors.lennytheweedwhacker wrote:see i think he could pull it off with better material just based on something like bronsonLoathedVermin72 wrote:Yeah, that was kind of my point. i know what you mean...and in the case of mad max i definitely agree his talent wasn't harnessed, i just have a hard time thinking anybody with that material would be amazingLoathedVermin72 wrote:To clarify - I love Tom Hardy and think he is one of the best actors alive. Yeah, I agree - I don't think anyone could have been amazing with that little to work with. But I do think someone could have made that character more compelling than he was as played by Hardy.lennytheweedwhacker wrote:i know what you mean...and in the case of mad max i definitely agree his talent wasn't harnessed, i just have a hard time thinking anybody with that material would be amazingLoathedVermin72 wrote:To clarify - I love Tom Hardy and think he is one of the best actors alive. You know what Hardy thrives in? Roles with dialogue more than monosyllabic grunts
