Yeah Paltrow is really good as Pepper, and they make a really good couple with Robert Downey jr.
I remember thinking in the first one, " Gwyneth Paltrow? really?".

The Mandarin stuff was the only "WTFK" moment for me. It felt like a kick in the face of the Mandarin fans.
Anywhoo, besides that (I'm not a really big Mandarin fan, so...) I thought it was a GREAT fucking movie, maybe as good as the Avengers.

it was a cool thing for the story, but wtf??? use that villain for something like that...i dont know. I guess Mandarin fans are going to hate this turn. Guy Pearce was amazing though.
My office building lost electricity this morning so I hurried off to watch the early screening while they were fixing it. It was a great time. Some great comedy ("I just stole a poncho off a wooden Indian") and I loved the Mandarin stuff. I agree that the ending was a little strange. Did you guys stick around for the post-credit scene?

I noticed there were a LOT of Mandarin lines used in the trailers that weren't in the final cut of the film. He had very little screen time, too. I guess there must be a lot of Mandarin deleted scenes. Boy, Ben Kingsley was great.

his house gets destroyed, and they let a local police/construction crew clean it up with all his tech burried? where the frak was SHIELD??? and, when he goes MIA/leading up to the end battle, President is taken hostage... I'd have made some mention that... Thors back in Asgard, Hulks who knows where, Cap is busy being Cap, snap out of it Tony its UP TO YOU this time... they played it up so well the first half of the movie that he wasnt dealing with being a super hero, but they really gave no explanation / reason for him suddenly being all alone... Sir Ben was great as the wanna be Mandarin puppet though.
all that, and the fact that the movie theater played the preview for Stuper-man but not Thor or The Wolverine??? bastards!
we were all talking about it at dinner tonight. i said "just let me spoil one thing for you". everyone flipped the fuck out saying Iron Man is the greatest blah blah thing ever blah blah. i was obviously kidding, but i didn't realise so many people THOUGHT they liked this franchise.
anyway. i'll definitely watch it on Netflix in 5 months. theres only a couple movies i'm paying to see at the theatre this year though.
