I'm giving the album another listen now (first time in years) to see if it's worth considering

The setup looks good. Did you get some prime real estate in the house or are you relegated to the basement after all ?

Basement's unfinished, so I'm in the spare bedroom, which is nice. It's also a ranch, so if I blast it you can hear it anywhere in the house. \m/

Guys... singles, 45's, 7", 12" do you collect them or not?
Picture sleeves, colored pressings, ltd edition numbered releases?

I've stepped up my singles game in the last year or so. I don't listen to them very often, but usually there's cool material on the ones I buy that aren't available anywhere else.

I'm actually confused by your question: are you only talkin' singles?

Yeah singles is what I meant. I'm with you, I've sorta stepped it up recently but don't end up playing them very often. It's usually because of an rare song, but often it's because of a limited release or something interesting about the pressing (i.e. 12" picture disc or some shit like that). Lately I've also been picking up random "one-hit wonder" things or old singles that I like but don't warrant owning the whole album.

I like picking through the wicked old 45s at record stores for oldies and stuff like that. I've got a bunch of James Brown singles I play when I'm in the right mood, and they were like $0.80 each.

I usually don't bother with singles unless they come as a bonus when I buy/preorder an album. Well that is until yesterday, I bought a box of 100 45s for 20 bucks. Pretty random stuff but there was some Petty, Bruce, Stevie Wonder in there along with lots of one hit wonders. I'll probably keep some and get rid of the rest. Mostly picture sleeves too..
