I've seen them about 25 times since 96 and even my sub par experiences were a lot of fun.

Yep, as much as I bitch about the quality of their most recent albums, I had a blast when I saw them last year and will definitely see them again.

I feel like the professionalism was up in 2014 but the sound system was down.

Back in 2000 I was able to see nine shows and I think I was making $6.00/hr and saving up to move out of my parents' house. Now I have a hard time justifying seeing them more than once in a year. The last time I saw them more than twice in a year was 2006. It's really not for lack of interest, but it's just too expensive.

Somehow I've still managed to meet some really cool people at just about every PJ show I go to, and usually have a good experience. But when you're around the bad ones, they are the absolute worst I've encountered anywhere.

I hope to see them again and I'm sure I'll have a great time as I always do, but I can't really argue with you.

What, besides singing along to Sirens and one guy picking a fight with lament, are the antics of the jock fan base? I've been to a lot of shows and never had or really seen any issues. Is this an RM thing, or an actual thing.

Two bros at a PJ show is kinda funny and charming. Once you get to four or more in a group is when you have issues.

I tend to have a bigger issue with the oblivious super drunks (bro or otherwise) and the entitled fan who is better than you, though I've encountered fewer of all of these groups as the years go on.

I suppose it varies a lot based on location but I've only ever had issues with the nutty "OMG EDDIE"/"PEARL JAM IS MY RELIGION" fans at shows.

I think the uncomplicated brawnish enthusiasm of bros would be a welcome respite to people getting misty-eyed over Eddie's every mumble but perhaps I'd change my tune if you stuck me in a show in the middle of New Jersey.

The Australian gushing crowd yelling I love you Eddie is insufferable. It was a welcome relief to experience a UK crowd that was enthusiastic through to almost ambivalent towards the stage.

However, the last Big Day Out show had a great crowd. I didn't hear any sycophants and all around me were chilled yet respectful.

Boston too.
There were some Boston bro-type fans in line for the GA (big deal at the time) San Fran 2006 shows that got in a fight over cutting/holding spots. Well, close to blows anyway. Someone was yelling something about how people take care of each other in Boston and PJ loves to play Boston the most or some ridiculous thing.

It was good for a laugh while waiting in line.

I hope that they tour near me again (northeast PA)

But I have a fear that they may not...

Boston definitely has both of these awful types of people at their Pearl Jam shows.

I had a great time at the last PJ show I saw (Portland 2013) but shows out here are completely different than shows on the east coast. The energy is different, everybody's more relaxed and the weed and beer are a hell of a lot better. The fans sometimes (actually, often) lack the enthusiasm you get on the east coast, but we have a much lower bro population than the rest of the country. It makes it worth it.

Sounds great!

I found the crowd really insufferable at the last show I saw. I think the fact that it was at a festival actually made the 'I cuddle my Eddie Vedder doll at night' brigade even more of a distraction, as though they were amping their behaviour up to distinguish themselves from the general throng of festival attendees. I don't know, perhaps it would have bothered me less under better circumstances but that whole experience was very bad.

All of that said, I really hope I get to see the band again. I still very much think of myself as a fan and I'd hate to leave things on a sour note if I didn't get the chance to catch another show.
