Thank you. It was a few years back now, and I haven't done any decent running since. Keep telling myself 'This is the year to give it another go and try and knock a decent amount off my time' , but it never happens...turned2black wrote:Rangi Guy wrote:Average finishing time for a marathon is 4:35? Nah, I was just joking around with the jog/run definitions. Personally I don't like the word jogging anyway. Makes me think of the aerobics craze of the 1980s.turned2black wrote:I'd be pretty bummed if you were referring to me. I like to think that I'm supportive of people with all types of abilities. Yup. The actual training and racing is easy, it's the motivation that's the tough part.Rangi Guy wrote:Thank you. It was a few years back now, and I haven't done any decent running since. Good luck to you. If you do start training, please keep us updated in this thread.

Re: The Work-Out Thread
The marathon was around this lake
- nice scenery, but at the halfway mark there's a stupidly steep hill - I was screwed after that.
If I do another - I think the first step will be to stop smoking again...

i've gone to the gym hungover and rode a bike a few times, a lot easier than running, and thought i was going to die.

10 miles in 75 minutes
I'm expecting the elevation in Flagstaff to kick my ass this weekend, so I took it easy on the treadmill. Set it to just under 7:30 miles and off I went. Did some planks and push-ups afterwards. Can't wait for some mountain trail fun this weekend.

Re: The Work-Out Thread
My heel is still busted. I think it might even be fractured. I will never run a big dog while riding a bike again. I've only been able to do sit-ups and free weight stuff.
Less judgement, more curiosity.

That looks like a killer place for a marathon. And yes, you should stop smoking. I've heard that cigarettes are bad for you.Rangi Guy wrote:The marathon was around this lake- nice scenery, but at the halfway mark there's a stupidly steep hill - I was screwed after that.

Build it up in the daytime. Burn it down at night. I think a balanced lifestyle is more important than a balanced diet.red calzolaio wrote:

Re: The Work-Out Thread
Haven't run in a month or more but have been cranking up the intensity of my bike rides into work. Have a half marathon on Sunday. Shooting for 1:50, slow by some of your comparisons but I'm older. It's supposed to be a beautiful day, looking forward to going hard in the sunshine then gluttoning myself on beer.
