agreedMcParadigm wrote:I like that recording of Last Kiss quite a bit, tbh, mainly because it's an actual performance. It's imperfect, a bit pitchy at times, overdub-free, and not at all digitally corrected.
We could use more records like that, if you ask me.

Royal Blood and Dinosaur Pile Up are two new Brit acts that might fit the billNow it seems like it has just disappeared. Yes, we have lots of nostalgic reunions and some of the old giants are carrying the torch, but where are the new groups? Where are the modern Helmets? Deftones? Rob Zombies? Rage Against the Machines? Downers? We've got plenty of metal and hardcore and plenty of indie and pop, but there seems to be no in-between anymore. I'm starving for some new artists.

That Royal Blood album is pretty good. I also really like Maybelene by The Love Junkies. Gonna check out Dinosaur Pile Up.lecherouslittlestump wrote:Royal Blood and Dinosaur Pile Up are two new Brit acts that might fit the billNow it seems like it has just disappeared. i dunno if this has been said, but dj matt chord in philly is a ten club member. he played the song on his radio show on y100, it was his own 45 that he played. it caught fire and the rest is history. eddie vedder has mentioned this at lots of philly shows.
as far as why this song? its catchy and eddie's voice sounds great.

Thanks to this thread, I'm listening to an On-the-Go playlist comprised of songs by Korn, System of a Down, Downer, Rob Zombie, Soulfly, Puddle of Mudd, Chevelle, Mudvayne, Danzig, Staind, and Kittie.

Re: How did Last Kiss become so popular?
It was a Christmas single and like others have said, a few radio stations played it and it caught fire.
However, I'll add that it was incredibly hard to get the song: on vinyl, to fan club, and no mp3. Unless you were an internet pro, getting an mp3 on the Internet in 1999 was still really tough, so the only way for normal people to hear the song was to request the radio stations to play it. I was a DJ at the time and a vinyl rip of my single was the one we played.
So ... this will never happen again.

I remember when it was finally commercially released as a single everyone I knew bought. For many it was their first PJ purchase. Maybe the No Boundaries CD was released first? I remember buying that.nomorecrackpipes wrote:It was a Christmas single and like others have said, a few radio stations played it and it caught fire.

12 seems like the right age for wallet chains, and Kittie
