Have anyone ever tried to do a Remaster of this album using all the demos and so? Cause the sound quality in this is a little sad....

Also, retrack the album counting the demos and leaks.

There would be no point in doing that, because all that circulates is MP3 sourced crap.

Gave this a listen in my Jeep last night for the first time in years, and I was surprised at how much I enjoyed it. I think the main reason (besides the horrible sound) that I didn't like it years ago was because the songs didn't translate well live at all, but the performances on the album are all top notch ( save for some uninspired drumming from Matt through a lot of it). All of the songs are decent to very good in my opinion as well with no stinkers at all.

Although nowhere near the level of the Ten - Binaural run, overall I would say that I like this album about as much as I like Riot Act. Riot Act has a much better cohesive album feel and cooler vibe to it than Avocado, but the individual songs of Avocado hold up better on their own than those of Riot Act.

It absolutely crushes Backspacer and Lightning Bolt, which is probably also a reason why I feel more fondly about it today than I did back in 2006.

I think L-Bolt and Backspacer are better albums from top to bottom, but the high spots on S/T certainly eclipse the high spots on the last two.

Same with me....my issue with S/T was always the massive drop-off after Unemployable. I thought that, although it was still the weakest material the band had come up with to that point, it was a fairly strong album up till then. I listened again recently and Army Reserve became one of the best songs on the record to me, which helped salvage an otherwise very weak second half.

I thought the same about Army Reserve after listening last night. Great, off-center song.

I even really like Big Wave and Come Back unlike many folks, but I feel like they have a b-side feel to them. I think of Big Wave like I do Black Red Yellow. They're light hearted, fun songs that I really like but are more suited to be cool b-sides than mid-album material. I think of Come Back as a kind of Soldier of Love (despite the latter being a cover). Neat little song that is not in the typical Pearl Jam vein, but probably belongs as a b-side.

I think Inside Job is a little weak. Had lots of potential but drove off the bridge somewhere in the writing and recording of it. Gone is kind of the same, loved the demo but the band made it worse instead of improving it.

Inside Job and Gone are the two rough spots on the record to me, but they're awfully rough. Inside Job, I like some of the music but the vocals are silly and the lyrics are eh. Gone is just a slog; even solo it just sounds like a reheated PJ anthem, in the same box as something like Unthought Known or Amongst the Waves.

Come Back has appealed to me more also in the past few months. Overall it's still their weakest album to that point but it does have good work to offer.

I thought the songs translated very well live, certainly more so than most of the material on the last two records.

Yeah that's one of my least-favorite Pearl Jam songs.

Yeah, they definitely translated better than Backspacer or L-Bolt, but not as well as the albums before it IMO. WWS was the biggest disappointment live, no balls at all and that was the lead single.

Me too. I pretty much have an irrational hatred towards it.
