Considering ed had an objection to that (beautiful) poster from 96 with the mermaid with the boobs, it just goes to prove how disconnected the band are from 10c these days. That one there is fucking ugly. But given it says pearl jam it'll be rare as hens teeth no doubt.

So my membership expired on November 30th 2012, i renewed on January 8th. They say I'm not eligible for the single or deep for 2012. Really? i have had my membership since 1995 not missing a newsletter or single and now im not a "paid up" member for 1 month out of the year and im not gonna get it? Fucking lame

don't they claim that every membership gets you a holiday gift and newsletter (whether digital or analog)? that would mean they didn't deliver what they promised on one of your fees..

No, he would've received the 2011 single for his membership that ran from November 2011 to November 2012 and I presume he'll receive the 2013 single for his membership than runs from January 2013 to January 2014.

Bear in mind, the singles almost invariably arrive in the following year so the "2011" single might not have been sent out til halfway through 2012.

It might be inconvenient timing, but I don't think there's anything egregiously unfair about it.

that's not how i'm interpreting it.
he didn't miss a year of being a member, he was late a couple of months.
when you renew late, they don't change your renewal date (i believe that's right if i remember correctly), so if they're not going to give you 12 new months of membership then he should be entitled to the single.

of course they could make this much easier if they just set a date each year that you must be a member in order to receive that year's single. if this exists, i'm not aware of it. it seems to change every year, especially since i'm sure there were years where there was no single for longer than a 12 month period

The website says there's a grace period for seniority, but does not mention you singles or gift.

It's a burden to bare for those of us with late-year renewal dates.

Yes, it's a grace period that allows you to retain the same number, it doesn't mean you still keep all of the membership benefits.

I imagine they probably do some kind of sweep of all the active analog members around Christmas time to see how many singles they need to send out. If you haven't paid yet, how are they to know that you will? If you decided to let your membership go, you would have been sent things you weren't entitled to. You can usually pick the new singles up relatively cheaply on eBay, in any case.

So what if the scenario went down like this:
- his membership expired November 30 2012, and its renewed sometime in January
- it still expires on November 30 2013
- 10c says anyone who is a member as of December 15 gets the 2013 single

In that scenario, he wouldn't get a single/newsletter for that membership fee.

But like I mentioned, there were definitely times in the past where people who signed up/renewed would have received nothing during a 12 month period due to the single coming later and later each year.

I realize this sounds like I really care about this.. I actually don't, but again it just seems petty to me.
