Re: Jurassic World
I read somewhere yesterday that this was better than the 3rd, possibly better than the 2nd Jurassic Park, and that there are a lot of practical effects in this. Just not shown in the trailer

It's basically an analysis of how sexy he finds Chris Pratt.E.H. Ruddock wrote:that was... weirdLoathedVermin72 wrote:Armond White is my favorite film critic of all time, but this is probably the craziest piece I've ever read by him: http://www.out.com/armond-white/2015/6/ ... bergs-dino

It makes sense for the publication, I guess.

To clarify...Sam Jackson & Newman were not LEAD CHARACTERS.LoathedVermin72 wrote:this is an odd takeawayBammer wrote:Casting a "star" in the leading role (Pratt) is only necessary if the movie isn't otherwise good.
In the original JP the memorable characters to me were not the leads (maybe Goldblum) - Sam Jackson and Newman were not. I can't even name the male & female lead actors, nor the kids, from the original and that's cuz they blended in to an awesome movie about dinosaurs.
Goldblum killed it though. He's the best.
I didn't mean that to sound like they weren't memorable. They were both great in the original JP.

All I got from that is that I could totally see (and kind of want to) Chris Pratt in a He-Man movie.

Re: Jurassic World
Jurassic World is just the sort of really bad film you can't help but love and admire. It's terminally stupid, but assembled with absolute precision. The characters are laughably stereotypical, but affectionately played to the hilt by Bryce Dallas Howard, Chris Pratt and Omar Sy.
And the effects, editing, soundtrack and cinematography are simply as good as money can buy.
With affectionate nods to the original, and an old favourite brought back towards the end that actually had us cheering in our seat, Jurassic World is a good time, and great fun. Leave your cynicism at home, and enjoy the ride.

Re: Jurassic World
i'm not sure what some are expecting from a movie like this.
i thought it was good fun. glad i saw it opening night, maybe that added to my enjoyment but whatever. loved all the callbacks to the original.
oh, and T-rex FTW.
