matt reeder wrote:"Spin the Black Circle" from Saratoga is about the best thing ever. It's easily the best live version from the Matt Cameron era I've heard and maybe the best period. Actually, all the Vitalogy tracks from the 2000 tour sound amazing. There's something about the dark energy of the 2000 era that suits the Vitalogy material really well. My favorite ever versions of "Better Man", "Immortality" and "Whipping" also come from this tour, and there are some outstanding versions of "Tremor Christ", "Nothingman" and "Not For You" as well.
Immortality sounded awesome in that tour....but for me, some of the Binaural material is incredible..specially Matt´s drums on Rival, the Philadelphia version is great.
BONE FUCKIN´ TOMAHAWK.

The whole first part of that show is non-stop insane.

I think Toronto is the only version where Ed didn't majorly blank on the lyrics.

Yeah I remember looking for a 2000 version of Immortality for a mix I made a few years ago and Ed was just awful on every one I tried.

The "Romanza" intro to "Better Man" is a big seller for me.

I think Ed makes it through "Immortality" flub-free on homecoming night in Seattle, and also a few times in Europe.

Where the fuck were you guys with these Immortality suggestions when I was putting my mix together? I had a thread for it and everything!

Thankfully, for the next tour, they realized they needed to up the ante so they responded by canning the classical guitar and replacing it with a first-verse audience singalong.

This band simply does not disappoint!

i'm all for a singalong, but i woulda rather they kept playing Romanza for sure.

I was all psyched to listen to the Saratoga show about a month ago and was really underwhelmed. In fact, I think Ed sounds pretty bad on everything I've heard from this tour. ''94-'95, 98 and '03 are all better for me. But I certainly haven't listened to the whole tour or anything.

You didn't like the best versions of "Spin the Black Circle" and "Rearviewmirror" ever played?

I'm very biased as the Pittsburgh date was my very first show, but was nonetheless surprised that this one did not receive the Ape Man seal of approval.

Not sure I think it's the best STBC but I just listened to RVM, and you're right, it's scorching.

You have every right to be biased. Pittsburgh 2000 is one of the best nights for this band from any tour.

I'll have to go back and listen to Saratoga. My memory has it as a GREAT show.

Listening to Toronto right now...Ed is doing some very Sonic Youth-y things on rhythm guitar behind the "Immortality" solo. I miss when PJ were this subtle...
