This team has fallen below rock bottom. At this point, whether it's even justified or not, canning Farrell is the only move left to make.

I know he won the World Series and we can never take that away from him, but seeing him fired halfway through year three of his "Dream Job" would make a lot of Toronto fans very happy.

It was about the way he left, mostly. He made it clear to the team that he wanted to be Boston's manager while he was under contract for another year with the Jays. Whether it was his fault or not, the fact that he wanted out became very public and it was suddenly a completely untenable situation. Then he got traded, and when people asked him questions about why he wanted to leave Toronto he went classic politician and said stuff like "Hey, it's not like I bailed on the team, I was traded!" He used the experience with the Jays to get the Boston job. In a way, that's how it should be: you get experience and then you try to find something better. I think what really irks Jays fans is that he very clearly went into the Jays job knowing that he was just biding his time until he could get back to Boston.

In the end it's awesome because John Gibbons is kind of the best and Farrell is one of the worst tactical managers I've ever seen.

Farrell is atrocious tactically. The first year it kind of flew under the radar because they were winning. I do remember though, in game 5 of the World Series, he ran out of bench players and had a reliever batting in the 10th inning. That was the moment I realized how bad he was.

Spot on from Eck. The most telling thing to me was Farrell's reaction, or lack there of. Shows the weak standing he's in right now as manager.

I'm interested to see what they do tonight to set the bar even lower. Maybe they lose a game in which their own starter pitches a no-hitter?

I don't see how Cherington isn't catching near the heat that Farrell is. He has assembled three completely unique last place teams in the last four years. That has to be a first.

They are a horrible team that is now 7 games out. Now is the time to eat whatever bad contracts you can and deal away whatever you can for whatever you can get. I am fine with Farrell and Cherington sticking around bc nobody else would have any more authority than they do... Meaning the ownership group needs to either take the lead or get out of the way, but they can't have it both ways.

At least last year I could see the logic behind getting younger, but this year was a disaster the minute Lester was officially gone. Then they basically traded Cespedes for Ramirez and overvalued Panda over Holt. They've waited a year too long to dump Napoli, which has cost them the chance to have Craig at first.

I put all of this on the owners. Seeing as they've won 3 World Series, I'm sure they'll make great decisions the rest of the way.
