 You finished a marathon. Nice work, Rangi!
Thank you. It was a few years back now, and I haven't done any decent running since. Keep telling myself 'This is the year to give it another go and try and knock a decent amount off my time' , but it never happens...

I'd be pretty bummed if you were referring to me. I like to think that I'm supportive of people with all types of abilities. I think I have demonstrated that in this thread.
Nah, I was just joking around with the jog/run definitions. Personally I don't like the word jogging anyway. Makes me think of the aerobics craze of the 1980s.

Yup. The actual training and racing is easy, it's the motivation that's the tough part.

Good luck to you. If you do start training, please keep us updated in this thread.

The marathon was around this lake Image - nice scenery, but at the halfway mark there's a stupidly steep hill - I was screwed after that.
If I do another - I think the first step will be to stop smoking again...

i don't know how you guys do it.

i've gone to the gym hungover and rode a bike a few times, a lot easier than running, and thought i was going to die.

10 miles in 75 minutes

I'm expecting the elevation in Flagstaff to kick my ass this weekend, so I took it easy on the treadmill. Set it to just under 7:30 miles and off I went. Did some planks and push-ups afterwards. Can't wait for some mountain trail fun this weekend.

My heel is still busted. I think it might even be fractured. I will never run a big dog while riding a bike again. I've only been able to do sit-ups and free weight stuff. :gomez:

That looks like a killer place for a marathon. And yes, you should stop smoking. I've heard that cigarettes are bad for you.

Build it up in the daytime. Burn it down at night. I think a balanced lifestyle is more important than a balanced diet.

Haven't run in a month or more but have been cranking up the intensity of my bike rides into work. Have a half marathon on Sunday. Shooting for 1:50, slow by some of your comparisons but I'm older. It's supposed to be a beautiful day, looking forward to going hard in the sunshine then gluttoning myself on beer.
