I don't find Brain of J out of place on Yield at all.

Seconded. Also, BOJ would be all wrong if Irons weren't drumming on it. He owns that song.

I think it's perfectly placed on Yield, but may have felt out of place if it did anything other than open. I agree with McParadigm that it feels connected to that Vitalogy-era, but it also has a foot forward into the things they're doing with Yield. I love the way it acts like a bridge, and by the end of the first three songs, you've pretty quickly and effectively transitioned out of what the band was doing on previous albums into what they were trying to accomplish on Yield.

Yes, if only the sound and feel of this stupid, stupid song could be greatly improved.

I don't want it added to the album proper, but Brain of J should really have been a Vitalogy or a No Code b-side. It's not a bad song, but it just fits that era a lot better than it does Yield. I halfway feel that the only reason it's on that record is that they wanted to open with a rocker, and most of what they were writing at that time was midtempo.
It debuted in 95, didn't it?

I don't think MFS should be on Vitalogy, but I do find it to be one of the better songs on LB.

I don't want it there either, but I would have loved to see it be a b-side from those sessions.

his writing on that kind of subject matter was at its peak then, too. I bet we would have gotten better lyrics (low bar, but still...)

"Blood" would be interesting in the Vitalogy cannon, with that much thicker, heavier production.

b'snatch is one of my favorite posters ever. I feel like his talents are being wasted in the PJ chat forum though. I want to hear more about his scooter rides to work, yanno?

if it didn't have the calypso bridge...

and if it had a searing guitar solo... it might just be a weiner.

i have to give Ed credit for sounding like he's trying to sing in that one shouty verse on it though...

although doesn't seem replicable live, without a severe tune down, and a ukelele solo, and an official sticker set, and a PJ25 dildo pre-sale code

The bridge is awesome. Wouldn't mind a guitar solo.

Agreed.

Blood would be interesting as well. There is a playfulness to the song that would be lost, but it would definitely be more intense

Have we ever gotten confirmation that this song is a first person account of Dr Evil's son?
