Why don't people earnestly sing love songs while wearing OshKosh B'Goshes anymore?

Run All Night.
Great, very fun movie. Liam Neeson and Ed Harris kick ass.

I think that communal experience only applies to dumb comediesLoathedVermin72 wrote:Wow. A basically self described movie obsessed message board poster doesn't understand "communal experience?"
Color me shocked.

I didn't say I don't understand it, just that it's bullshit if you actually care about the movie. I'm going to see the movie, not to be distracted by other moviegoers.

If you don't enjoy it, you don't understand it.
but im the same way. I try and convince myself to go see "event" movies while they're still an event and I hate it every damn time.

Re: What movies are you watching?
That's silly. I can understand it without liking it. Seeing The Expendables 2 with an audience that was totally into it was a blast. Same with The Room. But ultimately, that's just experiential distraction that, if anything, only muddies honest analysis of how good a film actually is. And THAT'S what I'm interested in.@SkitchP wrote:LoathedVermin72 wrote:I didn't say I don't understand it, just that it's bullshit if you actually care about the movie. if it's any consolation, I am with you on preferring to see movies in a theater with as little people as possibleLoathedVermin72 wrote:You guys are really trying to push me today, aren't you?

LV, did you ever watch AL: Vampire Hunter? If not no big deal, but if you did and aren't posting about it I'm assuming you absolutely hated it and don't want to hurt my feelings.

Re: What movies are you watching?
Finally watched Paradise Lost 3. What a great series. Just exceptional documentary work. Can't believe I waited this long to watch them all.
Also, watched Jane Eyre (2011). Directed by Fukunaga. Really solid adaptation. I just finished the book a couple of weeks ago so it was still super fresh in my mind. Had to constantly keep the unnecessary comparisons in check. But I highly recommend this film version.

Jane Eyre is my favorite thing Fukunaga has done. Great movie. PL3 is really good too.durdencommatyler wrote:Finally watched Paradise Lost 3. What a great series. Just exceptional documentary work. Can't believe I waited this long to watch them all.

Re: What movies are you watching?
Some of my favorite scenes from the book are missing from the film. But ultimately, it didn't matter. What they turned out was breathtaking. Haunting and taught. Well told, beautifully shot, perfect casting. It's a really great film.LoathedVermin72 wrote:Jane Eyre is my favorite thing Fukunaga has done. Great movie. My stepson has never seen Tropic Thunder. Gonna watch it with him tonight. It will be my 556th time but whatever. He'll love it.
