Local H - Lifers (page 2)

Post by daft twat »

So I've been a Local H fan since I saw them open for Silverchair in 96. The next year they put out Pack Up the Cats, which is still one of my favorite albums of all time. They then changed drummers and released 4 albums and a variety of mixtapes and eps. I enjoyed some more than others, but none of them lived up to albums 2 and 3. Anyway, a new drummer was introduced a year or so ago and a new album was in the works. I wasn't too excited. In fact, the new album came out a month ago and I forgot all about it despite seeing them in late February. Well, I downloaded it this weekend and, to my surprise, I love it. They break no new ground at all. What they have done is made an album that I think people would have loved in 97. If you ever liked them or just enjoy a good rock album, check it out. This song is one of the highlights:

I agree with everything you said. Not that it had anything to do with Brian St. Clair (their drummer before this newest guy), but the albums while he was behind the kit were not what I'd come to expect. I'm really enjoying Hey, Killer though. Scott has his energy back!
Now, what would Oscar Winner® Michael Caine do?

If I was Eddie Vedder would you like me any better?

Good rock band. Saw them like 10 years ago at a place that holds like 40 people. Great show. They are in Omaha Wednesday. If I didn't have work I'd go.

Bound to the Floor is a karaoke favorite of mine. Did we ever find out whatever happened to P.J. Soles?

This arrived in the mail today. Its really slower and heavier than that full album link. That's been sped up and pitch corrected to sound like a fast driving album. It isn't.

I'm kinda pissed, but still think this is the best thing he's written in a decade.

I checked this out courtesy of Daft Twat's "Best Album of the Past 15 Years" thread and have so far very much enjoyed it. Fun stuff.

That's the best I could hope for with this or any thread. Thanks for giving them a shot. I have no affiliation with the band or anything, but I have watched Scott grind it out for 20 years. He sold pedals and shit to pay for this album. I never expected to love a Local H album again, so I want to help get the word out on this one. I think anyone who dug them in the 90's will like this record.

Dprival78 - go to the show. 3 beers will cost more than a ticket, and they're better live than on record. That said, check out the sets on setlist.com and leave during the last song. They just make noise for 10 minutes. They have always done that, and I will never understand it.

This is one of my favs right now. That run of four songs from One Of Us through Age Group Champion is really cool. My only gripe is that I still wish the album had a little faster tempo. Stoked to see them in DC Saturday. I'd only seen them once, back in the late 90s.

Show in DC a few weeks ago was solid. Glad to see them again after so long, but they completely blew out my ears. I didn't wear earplugs, got too close in a small club, and the tinnitus was raging for close to a solid week after. Really scared me. I'll get it for a few hours the next day after a show, but for a week? I can still hear a faint tone in a dead silent room.

Scott Lucas ruined concerts for me, haha. Although he did crowd surf back to the merch booth to end the gig.

That is scary. I saw Pantera in 97. Stood in front of the sound board. Ears rang for over a week. I dreaded going to sleep at night. I was really scared. Fucking hostile!

The show in Minneapolis last Friday was great. They played 8 tracks off Hey, Killer, including a little punk version of Salt Mine.

The best part, though, was Scott was in a great mood. I've seen Local H a dozen times. He is often salty. I think he finally found the right drummer. They were a fine tuned machine, too. John the Baptist Blues was unreal.

At the end of the show, Scott crowd surfed to the back and manned the merch table. I bought a shirt and said, "Thanks for taking 25 years to make your best album." He gave me a firm handshake and seemed genuinely appreciative. Can't wait for the next show!

Driving to beautiful Eau Claire, Wisconsin, tonight to see the boys. Hoping to hear Age Group Champion, but really, anything from Hey, Killer will be great.
