indeed, but those are still major league clubs, and the brewers numbers are just gaudy. 75 hits over a 5 game span, for example.Chris_H_2 wrote:somewhere playing teams other than the phillies and reds?spike wrote:brewers are red hot all of a sudden; unstoppable offensively. where has this been all year?
i will add though, that as a cubs fan, i would love to see them playing good ball and beating up on the pirates and cards.

carlos gomez, jean segura, and adam lind seem to be the leading candidates, though gomez left the game last night and is day to day. no one wants old ass aramis ramirez.Chris_H_2 wrote:so they'll obviously be traders at the deadline. who do you think's gone come aug. 1st?spike wrote:indeed, but those are still major league clubs, and the brewers numbers are just gaudy. 75 hits over a 5 game span, for example.Chris_H_2 wrote:somewhere playing teams other than the phillies and reds?spike wrote:brewers are red hot all of a sudden; unstoppable offensively. where has this been all year?

I really want the Tigers to be sellers at the deadline. Not a full on fire sale, as keeping the guys that are going to be here next year (be it long term contracts or club control) is preferable,
But i imagine we should be able to get some decent returns for Price, Soria and Cespedes, and I think guys like Simon and Avila could have some value to contending teams.

Honestly, I didn't think they were good enough WITH miggy. His injury just cemented it for me. Beyond Price and Sanchez they don't have the starting pitching to contend given that they don't have the bullpen to help cover it, and none of the farm system assets to supplement it sufficiently. Couple that with the extreme lack of power up and down the order (only 3 guys with more than 4 HR halfway through the season). Im plenty calm about it. Just being honest about where I think their talent level is.

I love how the Journal Sentinel was trying to write up Lohse as trade bate after his last "great" start... which was 6 innings 4 runs against the Phillies I believe? yeah, a playoff team wants that LOLspike wrote:carlos gomez, jean segura, and adam lind seem to be the leading candidates, though gomez left the game last night and is day to day. no one wants old ass aramis ramirez.Chris_H_2 wrote:so they'll obviously be traders at the deadline. who do you think's gone come aug. 1st?spike wrote:indeed, but those are still major league clubs, and the brewers numbers are just gaudy. 75 hits over a 5 game span, for example.Chris_H_2 wrote:somewhere playing teams other than the phillies and reds?spike wrote:brewers are red hot all of a sudden; unstoppable offensively. where has this been all year?

yeah, I just dont see the offense keeping this up. Theyre just too streaky (see last season)spike wrote:Stranger things, pal. Let's see how they do against the Braves and Dodgers before the break.
AND, Davis is due back next week which will put Parra back to a bench spot.
If I was running that team, id put Braun back in left, let Parra plya gold glove RF, and ship Davis off

Definitely gotta keep Parra at the top of the lineup somehow. Fuck Khris Davis.MadTIGERmaN wrote:yeah, I just dont see the offense keeping this up. Theyre just too streaky (see last season)spike wrote:Stranger things, pal. Let's see how they do against the Braves and Dodgers before the break.

I don't take much pleasure in asking this because I so desperately wanted things to be different, but are you finally ready to admit that the Verlander contract extension was horrible?@SkitchP wrote:I really want the Tigers to be sellers at the deadline. Well, yeah. I'm not suggesting they'll end up where the Phillies are now because hopefully they'll realize it when the window has closed.Chris_H_2 wrote:except their general manager isn't a bumbling halfwit.philpritchard wrote:The Tigers remind me a lot of where the Phillies were a few years ago.@SkitchP wrote:spike wrote:calm down, miggy will be back and they have enough guys to keep things afloat til then.@SkitchP wrote:I really want the Tigers to be sellers at the deadline. Re: MLB
Always amazes me when a pitcher hits "the wall" how fast they fall. Halladay, Sabathia, now Verlander, could even toss Lincecum into that group.Chris_H_2 wrote:I don't take much pleasure in asking this because I so desperately wanted things to be different, but are you finally ready to admit that the Verlander contract extension was horrible?@SkitchP wrote:I really want the Tigers to be sellers at the deadline. And for all those people who harp on the decrease in fastball speeds, Greinkes is at the lowest in his career, and hes down right unhittable right now. Course, if he opts out of his contract at the end of the year, he'll sign a big deal somewhere and probably end up hitting the wall as well.
