Yeah, I went in expecting a silly British horror movie, but man the imagery in this thing was viscerally grimy and gruesome. All the scenes in the "lair" were very uncomfortable.

Another worthwhile flick: Güeros
Maybe it's just the B&W, the 4:3, and the constant references to Godard and Bunuel, but it pulled off the "this-feels-like-an-old-movie" feel better than most.
