It'll be big & dumb and a good waste of 2 hours on a rainy day.

Watched WHAS last night for the ten thousandth time to celebrate America's birthday. It was still so goddamn funny I almost puked. I can't wait for this series.

I wish I liked the movie more so I could really get excited for the series. It's just always been in that kinda-sorta-funny-it's-fine-I-like-it-all-right category for me.

Meh. It ain't no thing. I have plenty of friends who feel the same way. At least you're nice about it. Some of my friends are dicks about people loving the movie.LoathedVermin72 wrote:I wish I liked the movie more so I could really get excited for the series. I think expectation plays a large part in it. I also watched it somewhat recently after hearing the proclamations of 'funniest movie ever' for years, and my reaction was "oh, okay."

Yeah, I get that. Similar to Napoleon Dynamite in that way.
But I was so happy when I raved about WHAS to my best friend (who's favorite all-time comedy is Airplane, followed by MST3K) and he was so skeptical. I thought for sure I'd over-hyped it to him. But after watching it once, he immediately wanted to watch it again. After three viewings he called it the funniest movie he'd ever seen. To this day, he maintains that opinion.

Interested in seeing Wet Hot American Summer? You should definitely watch Wet Hot American Summer. It's nothing like Napoleon Dynamite, really. Only in the way it was hyped but then there was a fervent backlash to the hype.@SkitchP wrote:durdencommatyler wrote:Yeah, I get that. Similar to Napoleon Dynamite in that way.

If anything WHAS is less deserving of the backlash because it tanked at the box office in the first place. Then slowly built up a cult following. And then people hated it all over again a second time because it had a cult following.

I'm a HUGE fan of both. Both are in my top 5 comedies of all time. But Wet Hot American Summer takes my top spot. But I don't like pitting them against each other. Both are just completely wonderful for different reasons.
