Tried to get into Parks and Recs, but only got about 4 episodes through the first season. What a drag
Season 1 of PnR is by far the worst.
Does it get much better though or just mildly better?
Mildly. Barely.

Don't listen to him. Season 1 is a drag because they tried too hard to make it like The Office and no one knew what the show was going to be. Season 2 is way better than one (and really hits its stride about a third of the way through and doesn't stop getting better from there) and Season 3 is one of the best seasons of any comedy series I've ever seen on television. Season four is excellent. Seasons 5-7 are solid and overall consistent but there are some lows, but only one or two ever get as bad as those first season episodes. But by that point you're so invested and in love with the characters that you just don't care.

Really glad you loved Always Sunny, though. That show is fantastic. This most recent season was amazing. So definitely keep going with that one. It hits a snag around Season 5 but you barely notice it and they more than make up for it soon after.

I love parks and rec, and season 1 is better once you've seen the later seasons.

But the final season is basically garbage.

They should put that in the commercial once they start selling seasons.

I didn't mind s7 of Parks & Rec, but mid-way through s2 through s4 were the best.

Did you watch/like the American version of The Office?

Yeah - I watched some of that. I liked that a lot more when it moved away from copying the British version

Same thing here. It gets way better when it comes into its own. That first season, like The Office, is only six episodes. Honestly, all you need to know is that Leslie wants to fill in the pit outside Anne's house. You can skip the rest of S1 and start S2. Seriously.

Wow, the first episode of Why? with Hannibal Burress was really lame. I cringed all the way through.

i didn't mind season 1 of parks and rec on first viewing, but agree with skitch that it's better after you've seen the other seasons (still haven't seen all of the last season)

but i think parks and rec is incredible overall...it does what the office tried to do, but did it much better

i love this quote:

'Parks and Recreation,' by 'The Daily Show' Head Writer Tim Carvell:

Parks and Recreation is criminally underrated and one of the best ensembles on TV. They figured out how to make comedy out of people who like things, as opposed to the usual sitcom where it's just people being awful to each other. Turns out passion can heighten things in the same way that conflict does. And that delights me.

That was the quote I read to my wife to get her to watch the show. She also had a hard time with Season One, but largely because it didn't match up with that quote. I trusted her to stick with it though and now it's one of her all time favorite shows ever.

So far you've been two for two with your recommendations with this and Bloodline
