Yes. I totally get that. And I don't disagree.

And I'm just saying that while I love the era we live in now and wouldn't trade it away, I still carry a soft spot, a strong sense of nostalgia, for the old days, for the hunt. Because it was fun, it lead me to cool communities of like-minded people, and it made me really evaluate and appreciate the things I was able to collect. Some were really good quality. Some were terrible. But I loved all of it because it took effort and it scratched that weird obsessive itch that I have for that kind of thing. Anyway...

I'm glad you're around.

Shocking Comment: Team Joey

I remember when I got my irst pj concert on tape. 7/9/95. i also remember tacking down "aussie dynamos" from a record store in Texas. Id come across magazines and they would list which bootlegs they had. Id call the store and they'd read me off the setlist.

I remember when I heard a texan accent say "tremor christ". It was like the best day of my life at the time.

On a trip to the UK in 94 I picked up 2 of the best PJ boots I ever bought. Fight (For Your Cause) and New Songs. One was in a record store in a small regional town and the other was at a market in London.

I know what you're saying Spenno and I agree that it is better now. But, like Joey, I miss that hunt and the treasuring of disc/vinyl.

Spenno has never been one for nostalgia or such tomfoolery and this is why we love him.

Spenno is amazing. And thank god for him! He's come through for me time and time again. Thanks to him there is no more hunt. I don't mean to imply otherwise. And I totally get why the hunt sucked, too. Just one of those things I miss because it was so much fun for me.

Guys, we're at serious cross-purposes here: you were originally talking about the "thrill of the hunt" with respect to shitty MP3s!

That's what I was saying I couldn't understand the appeal of, not finding treasures via bootleg or rare CDs in the 90s (something I have fond memories of too).

I still find a lot to love in the physical artifact, even more now than a few years ago.

Yeah I think I derailed that. I still valued those MP3s but I hunted high and low for physical copies. I've spent way too much money on discs.

It was both for me. Of course I wanted the best quality mp3 I could get. But if I had to settle for shitty, I would because I wanted the recording no matter what, in any quality I could get. Just like those recent Avocado leaks. I just want them. The quality is secondary (for the most part).

But, yeah, I meant all of it. But especially the physical discs.

I would listen to those avocado leaks a lot more if they were lossless, or at least decent mp3s. As they're relegated to listen a few times and then never go back to status.

That second batch is much more listenable than the first. I was referring to Cold Confession/Let it Ride.

So is a world with a shitty version of Cold Confession better than a world without it at all? Sure it'd be nice to have a lossless copy but until the reissue we won't. Even then maybe not.
