Re: 10th album rumors and speculation
Soundgarden announced some EU shows in the beginning of september.
And since both RNDM and Soungarden are touring now....
So...PJ will finish this record in june/july. Then they will play the Wrigley Field.
In august they all will spend time with their families...holidays..surfing...
September some more Soundgarden touring.
Oktober..single release for Pearl Jam.
Early november, album release. Followed by some shows or tour.
Compare the releasedate and touring schedule with 'Riot Act'.

Re: 10th album rumors and speculation
Did NOT read all 111 pages of this thread. This is from last month loudwire.com. Sorry if it was already posted:
"Pearl Jam‘s recording process for their follow-up to the ‘Backspacer’ album has been a lengthy one, but guitarist Mike McCready has offered some good news for those patiently waiting on new music.
Speaking with The Rob on SiriusXM’s Pearl Jam Radio (as excerpted by Grunge Report), McCready stated that their recent recording sessions have concluded with the band very close to finishing up. The guitarist revealed, “The sessions went really well, they went very quick. We were with Brendan O’Brien, and he was kind of whipping us into shape. We all teamed together to bring in another section of songs. We started this project two years ago. We just recently finished another 7 or 8 from that or so. We’re listening to them to see which ones are going to end up ultimately on the record. We’re close to the end zone right now, football analogy!”
McCready added that there might be a few of his compositions that will make the cut for the new album, and added, “Not necessary like ‘Inside Job,’ but there’s one I’m very, very proud of.”
As for the sound of the new record, the guitarist revealed, “I think the fans will hear what we are and where we are at now, it’s going to be to their liking I think, it is to us. We haven’t figured it out exactly what everything is that is going to be on this record. Some of the standout tracks on there are pretty amazing. Matt wrote a really cool one that’s kind of ethereal meets U2-ness, I wrote kind of a punk rock one and a Pink Floyd thing, so there’s all these kinds of things going on. Ed has written some beautiful numbers, some kind of garagy type stuff and then also some beautiful lyrical kind of things. We’ll put all of those things in the Pearl Jam thing, and hit mix, and mix it up.”

If Mike is to be trusted, there will be a lot of "things" on this record.

I really don't think (lack of) Boom is our top priority at this point.

I guess thats better than stones "it sounds like pearl jam". It does sound like they're not really going for a specific sound or idea for this though, just tossing a bunch of songs in and seeing what sticks.Which, upon more thought, i guess is probably normal.
I hope 'lyrical kinds of things' doesnt mean more just breathes and the endses.

While a Western guitar motif lost on the swings drum bass fusion, get your own thoughts into the subconscious often forgotten. "Pendulum" is a sweeping soul from the ballast.

It really only rules out a repeat of Arc.stupidmop wrote:I hope 'lyrical kinds of things' doesnt mean more just breathes and the endses.

If they don't do anything at the same level of awesomeness as "I Apear Missing" from the new QOTSA album, I'll be disapointed.

Re: 10th album rumors and speculation
Those descriptions and Stone's 'it sounds like a pearl jam record' statement leave me worried. 2.5 ed acoustic based numbers, 2.5 garage punk numbers etc. you get the drift.
Are PJ records becoming as formulaic as some of their set lists?

it's statements like Mike's and Stone's that make me believe that all that analysis of album themes and narrative are moot points.dimejinky99 wrote:Those descriptions and Stone's 'it sounds like a pearl jam record' statement leave me worried. 2.5 ed acoustic based numbers, 2.5 garage punk numbers etc. you get the drift.
