I was at the record store the other day and the manager and a customer were geeking out over said films.
+1

Watching people get worked up about these movies has been the equivalent of when you point out something really stupid or odd that happens in a film, and someone says, "but that follows the source material..."

Filmmakers should not be afraid to scrap aspects of the source material, or reinvent them in a way that makes more sense tonally, thematically, or narratively for the piece they're creating. Some things just don't work across different mediums. But I understand sentimental attachment to a story or characters, and feeling frustrated when they are distorted beyond recognition for mass audiences. I don't subscribe to it, but I get it.

I guess the same is true for being excited to see elements of stories you loved represented on the big screen. It won't make or break the film, but I'm stoked to see that bulky-ass Frank Miller armor. I used to have a little collectible statue of it in my living room until my ex girlfriend knocked it over with her foot doing yoga. To be honest, I think she was covering for one of her friends. I never really believed her story. Trust was a recurring issue throughout our relationship.

She was 8 years older than me (Liz, remember her?) so yeah, that's likely.

To be honest, I think cat did it but the ex took the blame. I never really believed her story. I loved her so much and generally believed everything she said.
i may have added a detail here and there but the story is basically the same, but different than the source.

i would say im probably one of the big fanboys on here (though i dont follow DC nearly as much as marvel) but i do believe there are times your statement holds true (costumes come to mind...some work and some just dont)

i understand taking names of iconic story lines for a movies title (Days of future past, Age of Ultro, Age of Apocalypse) and i also understand these stories dont lend themselves to movies as far as story and plot goes because you cant fit 60 years of a comic in 2-3 hours of a movie (tony and bruce creating ultron and not henry pym).

but some things can be adhered to that are overlooked because it will "look cool"

I'm looking forward to the Batman/Superman movie but most likely unless word of mouth is stellar I'll wait for home video for this one. I'm curious how it will set up the larger universe they are going for but I'm thinking its not something I will have to rush out and see. I don't care that DC is going for a darker more adult aesthetic but it kind of suck if you have kids. I'm going to have to say no to this one if my oldest asks.

Really? Even though it's PG-13?

Look they gotta learn sometime, amirite? And who better to teach them than an over-sexualized blonde and grilled-out Joker. And Ben fucking Affleck.
