talked down by a trainer they were ready to eat and lunged at before he indian jones'd it under a closing gate? yes. The raptors still presented a very real danger, but it was just that were tentatively on "our side"LoathedVermin72 wrote:You mean the scene right before they were talked down by their trainer? And the scene that is super early in the movie and had no build-up?Mecca wrote:did you go to the bathroom during the scenes where they were very close to eating the guy that fell into the habitat and tore apart an InGen strike team?Raptors, which were a hugely threatening presence in the original film, are just commonplace pets now. There’s no danger anymore; the mystery is stripped away.

I didn't even mention how all the best actors in this movie are completely wasted. D'Onofrio is the only one that gets to do anything.

it wasn't kid stress comments; she was very biting towards the husband. There was acrimony between them.LoathedVermin72 wrote:Extrapolating kid-stress comments like that to marital acrimony is a bit of a stretch.Mecca wrote:not to FJM your entire post but
The parents obviously had some acrimony when sending the kids off and made comments like "lets just get through this," so it was previously alluded to, but it doesn't really pay off because the kids being in mortal danger brings them back together apparently. Why is there literally one scene when the younger brother breaks down about how he thinks his parents are getting a divorce? That was never alluded to previously, and is never referenced again. It says nothing about any of the characters. It’s meaningless thematically. And it doesn’t even jell with what we see of the parents: there is never any hint of discord in the brief moments we see them together.

Re: Jurassic World
Even if that were true (which I still think is a stretch), the impact of this on the kids or how it relates to their characterization is not explored at all. The movie is full of lazy, unearned allusions to familial themes, but it's all meaningless and disjointed. And it's never related to the movie's larger conflict.Mecca wrote:it wasn't kid stress comments; she was very biting towards the husband. it really isn't a stretch, it was pretty clear to me. I don't disagree that this movie was messy, but at least make your points about things that are actually true about the movie.LoathedVermin72 wrote:Even if that were true (which I still think is a stretch), the impact of this on the kids or how it relates to their characterization is not explored at all. I do remember thinking the divorce thing was unnecessary and that some of Bryce's backstory must have went on the cutting room floor. None of it bothered me really. The boys rang true for me.

Considering it's like the fifth highest grossing movie of all time, I'm sure there will be more. Hopefully someone else directs the next one.VinylGuy wrote:It was so boring and lazy...and this is the last movie right? I can't imagine the plot for Jurassic World 2.
