Damn, I've never really thought about this trajectory issue before. It makes me wonder how many otherwise equal records are either glorified or shit on based on which side of the respective artist's masterpiece they fall on. for the longest this song was kind of middle of the pack wilco for me...for whatever reason over the last year or so it's become one of my very favorites...i especially love this performance

Man. What it might come down for me is I like my wilco raw and ragged. Dirty. Tweedy as a lead guitarist is able to create that. Nels is just too fucking talented and amazing to be so raw it feels some times. Tweedy just has something else. Anger.

I think about this a lot as AGIB is easily my favorite album of theirs. Sometimes I think that they just haven't found a way to use Nels. Like it would be wasteful to just use him to color certain moments of songs since he can do so much more. So his presence is almost forced on you.Strat wrote:Man.
