I've never really read an FF books or anything. But I'm on team bada/stip here. I doubt I'll even see this. It's hilarious that the only FF film I've seen is the one from like 1990 that was never officially released.

bada wrote:Well this is a comic book property Stip and I can agree on. Unlike DC which has always embraced a multiverse hence there are no definitive interpretations of the characters there is really only one FF with the obvious exception of the Ultimate Comics versions. Even when the FF meet alternate versions of themselves its through the lenses of the 616 versions. FF should be upbeat...optimistic...fun....so when they do truly get themselves in a dire situation its all that more poignant. I have no issues with filmmakers wanting to put their own spin on things (except for Peter Jackson....damn you!!!!) and have zero issues with Johnny Storm being black since his ethnicity isn't central to the character(but, but, but then make Black Panther white.....well T'Challa is a African Prince from an ancient line of African Princes and his name is fucking T'Challa not Brad....idiot fanboys) but there seems to be very little of the characters we know here except for their powers which aren't all that special in 2015. I don't normally put much stock in early trailers but the behind the scenes scuttlebutt seems to confirm this probably isn't going to work out which I'm kind of rooting for so they go back to Marvel.
I continue to be astounded by the fact that a movie about a guy who shrinks down and rides ants is probably going to be more exciting than a movie about a human torch and a rock monster (who is one of marvel's better characters) or Batman vs. Superman.

I don't know if the guy in charge of marvel studios is a genius, or if the real difference is that they have a comic book guy in charge of comic book movies--but it makes a difference. Imagine what they could do if they got their flagship properties back (although the Xmen movies, with a handful of exceptions, have been consistently good to great)

It's probably on youtube. If you can find it, I HIGHLY recommend watching it. It's goddamn awful, don't get me wrong. But in the best possible way. And so much fun if you like watching terrible campy shit. Which I do from time to time.

I think it's hard to translate them to film. Reed Richards' power looks cool in a static comic panel, but utterly ridiculous in motion. The Thing has a great, almost abstract look in comic form, but doesn't translate well.

The upbeat family dynamic would be a tough sell, but maybe it would make a good tv series?

I dunno, it doesn't matter. The last two movies were total shit and they made a bajillion dollars. This one will too.

I never really got into FF. I've been wanting to read Hickman's FF run after hearing good things and enjoying East of West so much, but otherwise this squad bored me.

The beautiful tragedy of that movie, and part of what makes it such a weirdly compelling watch, is that the producers knew it was never meant to be released, that it was mde solely for the purpose of retaining the rights to the characters, but they failed to disclose that to the cast. So you have like these super earnest performances in the midst of this shambolic low-budget B-movie that was never meant to be seen by anybody.

The art starts off a little iffy the first few issues but then I think Marvel realized they had a good book and put better artists on it.

I did not know that. Fascinating. Now I want to watch it again!

Just saw the trailer for this. Seems entirely unnecessary, too soon, and sorely lacking star-power.

Word is the studio doesn't have a lot of faith in this movie.

We might be looking at another reboot soon.

I think they should realize these characters just aren't all that interesting.
