Re: What are you currently watching on TV?
It's so goofy. There are some fun things. But it's all plot driven. The characters are so uninteresting. Except for Melissa Leo, the actors are mediocre at best. Leo is killing it. But she's neutered in the writing, so it's a hollow compliment. The concepts are interesting and there is enough in the first 5 episodes to keep you wanting more. Again, it's all plot stuff. You'll want to know what happens next for a while. But now that we're almost at the end... it's just... it's just so wonky and unfulfilling.Rangi Guy wrote:That was going to be next on my list to watch....durdencommatyler wrote:Some DVR'd Wayward Pines. If you're looking for a good,, creepy, strange, character driven, "mystery" show that delivers on all fronts, I can recommend a few for you. This one is pretty limp.

Re: What are you currently watching on TV?
1. Twin Peaks
2. LOST
3. Black Mirror (not a continuous mystery, more like a modern day Twilight Zone)
4. True Detective
5. Bloodlines
6. Broadchurch
7. The Leftovers
8. Fringe
I haven't seen them but I'm told Helix and Hannibal are also fantastic.

Haven't seen Twin Peaks - is that kinda like The Killing?durdencommatyler wrote:1. Twin Peaks

Watched LOST when it was on, seemed to be about the only one I knew who enjoyed it the whole way through
Haven't heard of Black Mirror - so might give that a go
Watched and loved the first season of True Detective, have only watched the first episode of the second season
Watched and loved Bloodline off your recommendation
Haven't watched Broadchurch
Tried watching The Leftovers but really hated it
Haven't watched Fringe
Hannibal is fantastic - you should get onto that one as soon as you can

Fringe is wonderful. Especially the final couple of seasons. Definitely give that one a go.

Twin Peaks is nothing like The Killing. It's completely unique in the annals of TV.Rangi Guy wrote:Haven't seen Twin Peaks - is that kinda like The Killing?durdencommatyler wrote:1. Twin Peaks

So glad you liked LOST. I also loved the whole thing.
I haven't watched all of Leftovers. But I liked the book a lot. The show isn't as good. But I still like what I've seen of the show.

Did you like Top of the Lake? If so, give the first season of Broadchurch a go. It's spectacular.

Re: What are you currently watching on TV?
Now that Mad Men is over, I think Halt and Catch Fire is probably the best thing on TV. I'm kind of stunned at how much they've done in just a season and a half. Another interesting thing, if anyone else is watching it, is that we had two main characters and two supporting characters in season one. This year, they've switched. The supporting women are really the main characters now, and it's even better than last year. It's pretty ballsy of the show to do what it's done to Gordon this year, and to allow it to progress so quickly. Not sure where this line can take us, but it's been interesting to see.

Murder in the First is a pretty decent cop show.

I'm not sure the majority of RM fully appreciates how fucking amazing Bloodline really is.

If you want to watch something scary, search "Tsar Bomba" on youtube, then after viewing read about it on Wikipedia. Scary.

Unfortunately, I don't think it ended well. The beginning of the season is stellar, though.durdencommatyler wrote:I'm not sure the majority of RM fully appreciates how fucking amazing Bloodline really is.
