Canucks are a mess. Gillis just lets assets rot on the vine and doesn't react to injuries. Then Vigneault seems to do things out of spite to try and show up Gillis.

Ballard - why is he still on the team? $4 mil cap space wasted. They should have traded him the moment Vigneault decided he wasn't going to play him. Now he's worth nothing.
Luongo - why is he still on the team? $5 mil cap space wasted. At least he plays some and you always need a backup goalie but not at $5 mil a year.

Two seasons in a row the Canucks have had significant mid-season or beginning of the year injuries where Gillis should have made moves to bring a man in. It doesn't take much to bring in a replacement body and then be able to move that body out at the treade deadline when your team is healthy. Deadline moves don't have to be about bringing players in only. San Jose moved people out and are the better for it. Players and coaches look around and see the GM doing nothing and start to resent it.

Vigneault has to go but I think Gilli shas done more to lose the team than Vigneault.

Equally I think Julien lost the bruins team when he wasn't consistently rotating players out of the line-up and using more depth roster players during that brutal run of games in February through mid-March. It was stupid to play the top 9 forwards and top 4 or 5 d every game.

Just to make sure I don't have this backwards, are you saying he doesn't deserve the bad rep because he's played well? If that's the case, I obviously agree. I think most Toronto fans realize how good he's been, though

no, i was saying the opposite. i've seen him as a 2nd pair Dman despite his rep as a stalwart/top guy. That said, I just looked up his stats and his numbers look amazing, but I just feel like i've never seen him as that productive a guy (which also amazes me considering how much time he's actually on the ice most games). it's sort of confounding to look at his stats and compare it to the guy i've seen with my own eyes.

Gillis hasn't done enough to ensure a winner, and Vigneault holds grudges like no coach I've ever seen...they both need to go, but AV needs to go more...he enables everything there is to hate about that team

It was a great game, especially overtime. What was Phaneuf trying to do? Did he forget it was overtime? Can't even call it a pinch as he wasn't even trying to keep the puck in the Bruin's zone. Props to Kessel for doing more in these four games against Boston than all the regular season games put together. Toronto's doing a good job of making Boston look slow.

Even if they lose tomorrow, I'm happy with the potential Toronto shows going forward. The overall team speed is just amazing, and they play a good physical game, too. They just need to get the defensive system working a bit more smoothly (which should be helped by a few of the prospects that are almost ready) and they should be able to really contend. They've still got a very young core.

Toronto has a lot more compete than I thought they had. Same for their overall speed. f they play every night like they did last night then they're entertaining as well.
This time next year they'll have some big re-signing issues to deal with and have to deal with something they haven't had to deal with in a long time. Other teams may actually want to sign Toronto free agents. I do like their coach, Carlyle is among the best. They have some upside but things only get harder from here for them.

There's a bunch of reasons; he over promised and under delivered, he's awful at nurturing young talent, he's too loyal to players and ends up keeping veterans around instead of nurturing young talent, he was way too loyal to Wilson. My take on him in Vancouver is that he is a great President and mediocre GM. His loyalty gets the best of him, hampers his ability to eveluate players and other personnel.

That was an insane game last night, most exciting Bruins game maybe since Game 6 against MTL in 08. I absolutely concede that Toronto fans know way more about whether or not Burke should have been canned or not, but from the outside looking in it looks like he got a raw deal.

they made some moves this season that he wasn't expected to ever make like sending Connolly and Komisarek to the minors, which were the right moves.
