Saw a guy in a bitchin' Mastodon shirt the other night at Queens/NIN and now I can't stop listening to them.

Giving these guys a wee listen now. Been meaning to for a while now - what charming music this is!

I really dig Crack the Skye but outside of that its the odd track on various albums. The have enough albums that those odd tracks add up to a nice best of mix.

I just cannot get into this wave of "pop metal" bands at all (these guys, The Sword, Red Fang, etc.).

I feel the same about Protest the Hero and Torche. All of the elements are there, but they just don't click for me.

Remission/Leviathan/Blood Mountain/Crack the Skye.

Not counting Call of the Mastodon, their first four albums are like Metallica's - everything on them is at least solid,
but the albums after that are spotty at best (The Hunter, Once More Round the Sun, Emperor of Sand).
