Is Kanye still performing live with exclusively a DJ?

i'm gonna listen to some Kanye right now because, admittedly, i've been severely turned off by his public persona. it's probably not fair to his music, and i can admire his desire to be a perfectionist when it comes to his output, but can also see how that turns a lot of people off from working with him

I'd also want to hear Crack Music, Bring Me Down, We Don't Care, and Spaceship. And Touch the Sky.

Yeah, good call. But only if SYIMN does not feature Lil Wayne.

As would I. I would try and go.

I saw Kanye open for U2 in 2005 and he was awesome.

I saw that too, BRL -- Kanye himself was great, but I thought the overall impact of his performance was greatly compromised by absence of a live band (though he did have a seemingly random row of string players, and the girl on the violin was going berserk the entire time). I am an outspoken defender of sampling, DJing, etc., but I can't get past the fact that a pre-recorded backing track just doesn't overtake an arena the way a band can. I'd love to hear him get a massive ensemble and take his show on the road -- I trust it would be unlike anything the world has ever seen.

Goddamn do I love this version of New Slaves (even if he does leave out the very best verse).

I'm just gonna make all of my Kanye posts in here from now on since the old Kanye thread got hijacked by terrified classic rock fans after the Beck ordeal.

I'm sorry, but Wolves makes me think that (whenever it comes out) Swish is gonna be another stone-cold classic. I fucking adore this song so much. Especially the Vic Mensa part.

I agree with All Day and Wolves being killer tracks.

But isn't Swish also set to include that terrible song about his kid that he did with McCartney?

I really like the song "The Glory" -- something about Kanye rapping gratuitously about his exploits while he samples Laura Nyro singing "I can't study war no more" at Chipmunk speed just feels like the perfect summation of his extravagant genius.
