Listened to the Constitutional Hall '98 vault release earlier today. I've listened to various Corduroy a couple thousand times & that's a standout version. That's one of the songs that when they're on it is a reason why I love this band like I do.
OKC '13 playing now. It's thought of as one of the better ones of that tour, the second one of leg two that year. What a random place to get a treat of a show.

I grabbed the Soundboard Remasters Series version of London 6/6/92 off the shelf at random tonight and listened to all 52 minutes of it laying in bed, staring at the ceiling in an ill-fated attempt to fall asleep. Eddie is really annoying during these shows -- his buffoonish, deep-throated warbling from this era just sounds worse and worse with every year that passes. And the way he slurs "hell yeah" at the end of the line "what she don't know today might kill us both tomorrow" in "Wash" -- oy vey! I'll take two-thirds-drunk party Eddie eight days a week over this damned fool.

But Mike is unexpectedly riveting during this show -- playing around with some weird toggle effect during the coda to "Jeremy," experimenting with some tuneful R&B licks during "Black." His guitar playing long ago became a series of pet phrases and recycled cliches, but hearing him feel his way around these songs is a joy to behold -- spontaneous in a way that his playing so rarely is. Jeff also seems to be winging it a bit, really playing off of Mike's phrasings -- and JWB's remaster brings it all out with immaculate clarity. Now I'm laying here with the urge to stay up and listen to more Pearl Jam shows, and hoping that someday amateur remastering technology will advance to a point where someone like JWB can remaster a 1992 Angry Eddie show by way of a process which mysteriously replaces it with a previously uncirculated soundboard of a 1998 Action Jack show. Not really a good place to be at 1:30 AM.

When I saw PJ in East Rutherford 2006, Eddie thought it was where the "Bu$hleaguer" incident happened and he totally confused the audience by attempting to discuss it. People were trying to tell him that he had the wrong venue, wrong state and he was completely oblivious.

Breakerfall is tremendous, Love Boat Captain soars, and I love how Ed changes a lyric in MFC to "There's a lot to be said for WHERE YOOUU ARREEEEE" before the second chorus. I always got a kick out of that.

Breakerfall is tremendous, Love Boat Captain soars, and I love how Ed changes a lyric in MFC to "There's a lot to be said for WHERE YOOUU ARREEEEE" before the second chorus. I always got a kick out of that.

Listening to Nashville '03 this morning while I have my coffee -- what a gem of a show, five "Binaural" songs in the main set, flawlessly executed except for Ed repeating a verse in "Gods' Dice," beautiful "Oceans" opener, the whole works. It's also just one of those shows where everyone -- Stone especially -- seems to be a little more locked in than usual, adding little things that seem unique to this particular show (out of nowhere he adds a lead between the first and second verses of "Insignificance" that really perked my ears up).

And I know the spoken word part is pretty ridiculous, but I really like "Bushleaguer."

That April day in 2003 is one of may favorite PJ memories. Great weather, outdoor venue. I had perfect seats, like 4th row center. Me and a buddy just drove down, hung out, no stress, just a perfect day.

I always thought it was an underrated show, everything sounded so damn crisp and clean, Oceans, Cropduster, Parting Ways, and Bushleaguer always stood out to me as being better than I thought they could be. I had never heard the Oceans opener, and I never particularly liked the other three until I heard them at this show.

Still memorable to this day. It helped that I listened to this boot way too much back in '03 / '04.

There's a chilled out feeling that really comes through on the bootleg. Everyone seems to be having fun, band is super tight, audience is very appreciative and it all just clicks. Of all the great shows in 2003, I wish I had been at this one.
