Has no one mentioned Melancholia yet? I mean, I fucking hate that movie and don't suggest anyone watch it unless they want to experience depression and boredom in real time, but I'm surprised it hasn't been mentioned.

Melancholia is a beautiful and terrifying movie.BurtReynolds wrote:Has no one mentioned Melancholia yet? I mean, I fucking hate that movie and don't suggest anyone watch it unless they want to experience depression and boredom in real time, but I'm surprised it hasn't been mentioned.
I didn't include it because the tone didn't seem right for exactly what he was looking for in the OP. But I highly recommend Melancholia. It's goddamn devastating.

Daniel, may I direct your attention to the last several pages of the Post Random Movie-Related Thoughts thread for some sad, dream-like internet literature

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that the last few pages of the Post Random Movie-Related Thoughts thread are the very pinnacle of the new board. It only took 2.5 years, but we did it!

Oh yeah, good call. I didn't like it as much as wanted to because I read the book and the book destroyed me. So, I didn't even think of it, but yeah. That's a GREAT call.Orpheus wrote:Never Let Me Go pretty much epitomizes this.

Oh and Russian Ark and Tarkovsky's The Mirror also would be good picks.
