One thing I've found funny, all the Sox writers keep making remarks like this is not a surprise, worst kept secret, etc, etc. None of them had the story until yesterday, though.

Looking at the Dodgers trade, how much of a part did Larry play in acquiring Gonzalez and Crawford to begin with? How about the decisions to go from Cabrera to Renteria to Lugo? Acquiring Beckett and Lowell worked out great for Larry, but why bring Hanley back now when he doesn't have a position? They finally get a solid season out of Lackey and then trade him a year early. And then there's the Lester negotiations which must have been the final straw.

Larry needed to step away from Baseball Ops a while ago, and hopefully this reorganization means baseball people (including Bill James) can have more influence for a change. I would love for this to provide a single direction for the team, but I'm sure Werner, Henry, and Stienberg will tinker and screw it up every other year.

I know there's plenty of bad that he was responsible for, but he was good to have around sometimes.

I'll choose to remember him for being part of the group that brought three world series titles to Boston. Beyond that, I'm going to look the other way (positives and negative).

Yeah. The vast majority of regional networks are owned by Fox or CSN and are imaged pretty much identically nationwide.
