I've never seen that edition before, it's interesting. Does it have "A New Hope" at the beginning of Star Wars?B wrote:I got my 1992 VHS boxed set on eBay if you're dying for an unaltered version.

The words "A New Hope" were added before ESB ever came out. I don't think any version excludes them.Simple Torture wrote:I've never seen that edition before, it's interesting. Yeah, I'm 99% sure, but I lack the equipment to check for you.

I don't think my old VHS tapes had 'A New Hope' in the opening crawl. I'll have to check, it's these ones....

Yeah, from 2004 I think? They weren't the original theatrical releases, though (at least Star Wars wasn't).stip wrote:is there an official dvd release of the pre 1997 Star Wars?

They released the 2004 Box Set DVDs individually in 2006 with the original theatrical versions as a bonus disc.Simple Torture wrote:Yeah, from 2004 I think? Easily. The scenes with Anakin and Padme are so fucking painful. Then the final battle sequence is the worst action sequence in all of the movies.AndySlash wrote:good on him, 'attack of the clones' IS the worst.

It is bad, but so are all of the prequels. It's like choosing to eat a log of shit, or drink diarrhea.AndySlash wrote:good on him, 'attack of the clones' IS the worst.

Definitely the log. Diarrhea is a sign of infectious disease.darth_vedder wrote:It is bad, but so are all of the prequels. It's like choosing to eat a log of shit, or drink diarrhea.AndySlash wrote:good on him, 'attack of the clones' IS the worst.

Yeah I have those DVDs from 2006. I really don't mind the 2.0 Stereo Mix, but I have to admit that the letterboxing bothers me. It's like LFL intentionally fucked up one thing so we still wouldn't have the perfect version we were hoping for.stip wrote:is there an official dvd release of the pre 1997 Star Wars?

Personal anecdote of shame: In the early "wild-west" days of ebay I used to sell DVD-R copies of the 1993 Laser Disc releases. You can judge me all you want, but George ended up doing the exact same thing!

that is funny. I remember in the early days of eBay you could search for something that was commonly misspelled. So if the seller listed their item and misspelled it, it would come up and there would be no bids on it so you could usually get something cheap.southp wrote:Personal anecdote of shame: In the early "wild-west" days of ebay I used to sell DVD-R copies of the 1993 Laser Disc releases.
