This is the first Ryan Adams project in a decade that I'm interested in.

Guys, I really like Ashes and Fire. I mean, it's far from his best, but it's a really solid alt country rock album.

And maybe the first Smiths-related project you've ever been interested in?

Adams' last two records have been excellent, KD.

This could be interesting. I wish his strokes album leaked.

And I agree dct, Ashes and Fire is a really strong album.

But his latest isn't. Maybe 5-6 tracks at a stretch.

Ha -- maybe!

Not entirely, though -- it's not that I was never interested in checking out the Smiths, they just ended up not really being my bag.

Ryan Adams on the other hand -- I've always liked him pretty well, I just lost track of him.

Did you ever hear the Colin Meloy sings Morrissey ep? I LOVE that thing!

As attention whorish as this is it will be light years better than his last two half baked duds.

I have, dct, though not for a while. I've really just never enjoyed Morrissey's songs, or the overall Smiths aesthetic -- I know I'm probably oversimplifying the band in my mind but their total package just registers an overall impression that doesn't do it for me.

I love Meloy's Shirley Collins EP though, and think the Sam Cooke one is better than it should be. Haven't heard the Ray Davies one.

I wouldn't go that far. Top five, maybe top three on a good day.
