I've also enjoyed watching them try to out-conservative each other over the recent court rulings. A new amendment? Civil Unrest? Re-electable judges? Let's get rid of the Court? Worst 24 hours in American history?
My money is still on Jeb being the last one standing, if for no other reason than he's raking in the contributions.

and, for the most part, Jeb appears to be the least insane. which is actually really frightening.

This week, I talked to my students about the kerfuffle surrounding Donald Trump's comments about illegal immigrants. One of them asked (and a number of her classmates also wondered): "Wait, is he still allowed to run for president?" Oh, youth.

I don't understand what they thought would invalidate him?

Also, why are kids in school in July?
Everything's perfectly all right now. We're fine. We're all fine here, now, thank you. How are you?

I guess their thinking was: if someone said something that ridiculous, then of course he'd have to pull out of the race--the party just wouldn't stand behind him. Most of these kids are 17-18 and probably have never thought about politics in their lives--far too caught up in other stuff for it. It's a summer bridge program for the university for kids who come from disadvantaged backgrounds--some for financial reasons, some for medical reasons--so they're on campus for six weeks and if they can finish all of their classes with a 2.0, they get to matriculate in the fall. It's the most rewarding work I've ever done.

That sounds like a great program. Good for you, ST.

For anyone watching this "debate" with their popcorn and tang (like me):

How much more white could this audience be?

The main problem with this Fox News debate is the people in charge. Why did they bring the candidates out at 8:56 and awkwardly talk about them while they stood there for four minutes?

I'm really enjoying this.

All of these men seem really capable and qualified to lead us toward an amazing future.

I just lost it on cable. The wife is recording both Lip Sync Battle and a Dateline murder mystery. Guess I'll see if I can watch it online...

Is the Iran deal as bad as these dudes are making it out to be? Sorry, I didn't pay much attention to it, so I really don't know. I tend not to believe most rhetoric, and these guys seems to be over the top, even for Pub / Fox standards.
