I've never been a big fan of his due to the fact that it seems like his entire time as governor in Ohio has been one big handout to his good friends, but to his credit he has held back some of the craziness the Republicans in the Ohio legislature want to pass and he seems downright reasonable compared to guys like Trump, Cruz and Huckabee.

I won't pretend to know a lot about him. I just thought he came across as honest, answered the questions succinctly and didn't dabble in too much rhetoric. I did think his closing statement was a dud, however.

I looked up the video so i could see the exchange about trumps comments to women. There was a youtube video up. I read the comments.

People eat his shit up. Just the biggest rubes, assholes, meatheads love this fucking guy. are there enough people out there that think there is no line between a meathead asshole frat boy and not being politically correct? My god. I see comments calling the moderator horrible words like dumb cunt and excited about how trump owned her etc...

Im frightened for the goddamn world i live in. Sure, its the comment section on the internet but he also leads the fucking polls.
My father has always been a Republican (East Boston Italian, so raised to hate the Kennedys), but my mother always leaned democrat: she was a member of a union for more than 40 years, she's pro-choice, and, I mean, she's a woman, come on. But today she spouts off stuff like: "Trump has every right to voice his opinion, and even the people who are shouting him down about being too PC are thinking in the back of their heads, 'Well, maybe he's right!'"

I think, for older generations, this swing has come down to big wedge issues. At least in my family, what gets talked about the most is gay marriage, immigration, and health care. My parents' life hasn't changed one iota as these issues have bubbled to the surface (except for maybe that my father's a pharmacist, so he's seeing customers he never would've seen before), but they're terribly worried that things will change for them somehow. How awful could life become for two white people who will both soon retire with pensions and savings and with a house that's paid off?

It's just odd, too, because I thought they raised me to be extremely compassionate and to always check and see if others have enough before complaining about what I have etc etc. So it's entirely they're fault that I'm extra-liberal in basically every regard, I think.

Do any of you who've had similar experiences think your politics will shift later in life?

I think (for the most part) everyone's political and socioeconomic opinions change as they: get older, richer, poorer, change location, etc...

It's a simple way of looking at things, but i think it's mostly true. In the end, most of us (members of society) are very sympathetic to our own bias, and we tend to have selective memory when our lives change for the better or worse, reflective of our views on all of the big issues of the day.

I'm disappointed none of our British RMers have pointed out that "trump" there is equivalent slang to fart.

Bernie 84%
Hillary 80%
Rand Paul 74%
O'Malley 68%
Jeb! 63%

And then everyone else was in the 30s to 50s. I'm disappointed that Huckabee and Santorum weren't much lower.

Some of those questions were frustrating because the additional options they gave still weren't varied enough. Others were just pointless to ask other than for stupid politicking--like the one about the citizenship of children of immigrants, which is a moot point because the Constitution declares them to be citizens if they're born on American soil. I know that people like Trump can make some noise with actually suggesting otherwise, but come on.

I look forward to the soul crushing, defeated look in Bernie fans' eyes when they realize they are supporting this year's Ron Paul. The machinery will crush him like it does all real candidates.

If it's any consolation, I'm pretty sure I would've ended up with Bernie had I taken this when I was younger.
