The riffs on Ole kind of remind me of early AC/DC.

It would sure be nice for this to happen again, wouldn't it? The series that gave us "Let Me Sleep," "Angel," "Happy When I'm Crying," and "Strangest Tribe" -- we hardly knew ye.

I don't think there is any appreciable drop off in eddies writing in the post riot act era

See, Ruddo, here's a good example of an appropriate post for this thread.

In fact other than vitalogy (his high water mark) eddies writing has been pretty consistent throughout his career

I meant Ole' in the literal sense, in an ironic way.

This will be unpopular with some, but while he is not one of the all time greats, Eddie is generally a talented lyricist

It's the word 'ole' that people have some weird hang up about. If he was singing 'Fuck Off!' instead, people would goddamn love that song. It's so stupid.

I think the lyrics to Ole are just fine. He's not breaking any new ground or changing the world or anything. But they're nowhere near bad.

Next Mod conference call you need to have a talk with Ruddo about thread integrity.

I never really listen to it, but when I do, I'm really surprised by how much I enjoy Santa God. The chorus is really, really cool.
It obviously doesnt belong anywhere other than the holiday singles, but I think I like it more than most songs from Backspacer and Lightning Bolt.

Ole is a million times better than U. U is the worst song in the entire catalog

They work for the song. Fun, kinda stupid, occasionally pointed -- I really like the "knuckleheads" line, that's a word that doesn't get used enough.

"U" is fine. Way better than 90% of PRAMG material.
